Instructions

1. Overview

MTree replication supports Low-Bandwidth Optimization (LBO).
LBO is enabled per replication context.

LBO performs additional in‑flight compression on replicated data. This can reduce the amount of data sent over constrained networks but consumes additional CPU resources on the system.

2. When to Use Low-Bandwidth Optimization.

LBO should be enabled only when it provides a clear benefit, such as:

    • Sites with limited bandwidth
    • Where additional compression meaningfully reduces transfer time

Important:

Because LBO is CPU‑intensive, enabling it in normal or high‑bandwidth environments slow down replication, and negatively impacts performance.

3. Support and Requirements

  • Supported on all Data Domain systems
  • Applicable to MTree replication contexts
  • Low-bandwidth optimization is configured per-context
