- If Dell Security Management Server (formerly Dell Data Protection | Enterprise Edition) is already installed and .NET Framework is upgraded through Windows Updates, there are no known issues.
- If Upgrading or Installing Dell Data Protection | Enterprise Edition Server v9.7 or earlier, a Prerequisite Detection Error occurs, indicating that .NET 4.5 or .NET 4.5.2 is not properly installed:

Resolution
To resolve the incompatibility, remove .NET updates before upgrading or installing Dell Security Management Server.
- NET Framework 4.6.1 location depends on the operating system version:
- On Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1: Under Programs and Features in Control Panel, you see the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6.1.
- Windows Server 2012 R2: Under Installed Updates in Control Panel, .NET 4.7 is listed as Update for Microsoft Windows (KB3102467).
- Windows Server 2016: Under Installed Updates in Control Panel, .NET 4.7 is listed as Update for Microsoft Windows (KB3102495).
- NET Framework 4.6.2 location depends on the operating system version:
- On Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1: Under Programs and Features in Control Panel, you see the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6.2.
- Windows Server 2012 R2: Under Installed Updates in Control Panel, .NET 4.7 is listed as Update for Microsoft Windows (KB3151864).
- Windows Server 2016 has .NET v4.6.2 installed by default.
- NET Framework 4.7.0 location depends on the operating system version:
