Symptoms

When Dell PowerStore encounters a problem, an error alert is generated to help identify the issue. This article explains the different possible causes and the relevant solutions for these error alerts. If your problem is not resolved despite the solution that is provided, check the technical support contact options.

Cause

Cause for the respective alerts has been updated in the Resolution section.

Alert ID XMS_DP_HALT_AND_VAULT_STATE_HALT_IN_PROG
Alert Text DP halt process is in progress
Error Code (0x0030C905)
Description Data Path has detected that both MTc drives from the same pair were lost, starting a halt and vault process. When this alert is raised Read Write I/O access is blocked.
Resolution Cause
Connectivity to both MTc drives is lost, might be due to link/Hardware issue.

Solution
Wait until Data Path finishes Halt & Vault, once it's done, check for MTc drives state, if they are failed, replace them.  
If the drives are healthy or the issue remains after replacement, contact technical support for further assistance. 
 
 
Alert ID XMS_DP_HALT_AND_VAULT_STATE_UNVAULT_FAILED
Alert Text Data Path unvault process failed
Error Code (0x0030C904)
Description Following Halt & Vault event, Data Path encountered Software/Hardware error when trying to unvault LOG image from raid into the MTc drives. When this alert is raised Read Write I/O access is blocked.
Resolution Cause
Software/Hardware issues prevent from reading all the vaulted data from Raid into the MTc drives.

Solution
Data Path will try to Recover itself using the data it was able to vault/unvault, in case all is recovered, it will open gates.
If the self-Recovery is not successful, the system will remain in Recovery mode and the gates will not open. In this case, contact technical support for further assistance.

Alert ID DATA_PATH_LOG_DATA_TIER_OFFLINE
DATA_PATH_LOG_METADATA_TIER_OFFLINE
Title Log data or metadata tier offline in PowerStore
Error Code (0x00200401) (0x00200501)
Description An NVRAM pair has gone offline, causing the data and metadata log tiers used to go offline. The system will be halted, and the data and metadata caches will be de-staged to the vault. The data path will not start until the NVRAM drives are restored. During system startup, the caches will be restored from the vault and normal operation will resume.
Note: These alerts may cause loss of Read Write I/O access.
Resolution Cause
Both NVRAM drives in a mirrored pair used to store the log data tier and log metadata tier are faulty.

Contact technical support for assistance.
