Client - Client software is installed on a PC, laptop, or mobile device (tablet) and connects to a hub. This is the end-user’s system which will be used for presenting content, viewing other’s presentations, annotating on presentations, or sharing files.

Hub - This is the Dell OptiPlex 9020, 7040, or 7050 micro PC which hosts the meeting on the conference room display, also capable of hosting plugins to extend conference room capabilities.

Enterprise Server (Server) - Directory Service that assigns PINs, configuration data, and allows PIN to HUB and PIN to user resolution. The Server hosts a web portal for users to download the client application installer, and also provides IT administrators with a configuration console to help manage Hub policies.

FQDN - Fully Qualified Domain Name

IP Address - Internet Protocol Address

Plugin - A software component installed on a Hub that surfaces additional functionality.

IIS - Internet Information Services

SSL - Secure Socket Layer

Flat/Simple Network - a network in which all stations can reach other without going through any intermediary hardware devices, such as a bridge or router. Typically this means all devices and PC’s are connected on the same subnet, and they share a range of IP addresses.

Shared key - A key (password) that would be shared among participants in Intel Unite® sessions, especially in Small Business mode. Only Intel Unite® Hubs and Clients that use the same shared key will be able to participate in collaboration sessions.

Appliance - This term refers to the auto-configuration of the Hub that occurs during installation. When a Hub is configured as an appliance, the Intel Unite application will automatically start when the Hub PC is turned on and the Intel Unite application will operate in full screen mode.
