The OptiPlex 3050 family of desktop PCs does not support Trusted Execution Technology

The OptiPlex 3050 family of desktop computers does not have the option in the BIOS to enable or disable the trusted execution technology function.

Both the OptiPlex 5050 and 7050 families of desktop computers do support this feature and can enable or disable in their BIOS.

What is Trusted Execution Technology?

Intel® Trusted Execution Technology (TXT) is a set of hardware extensions to Intel® processors and chipsets. They enhance the digital office platform with security capabilities such as measured launch and protected execution.

Intel TXT provides hardware-based mechanisms that help protect the system against software-based attacks. They protect the confidentiality and integrity of the data that is stored or created on the system.

Intel TXT provides this by enabling an environment where applications can run within their own space - protected from all other software on the system.

Why does not the OptiPlex 3050 support Trusted Execution Technology?

The OptiPlex 3050 is the entry-level family of Dell's Business desktop PCs. It was never designed to work with or use the Intel trusted execution technology feature.

To use that feature, you should be looking to purchase a desktop from the OptiPlex 5050 or 7050 family of business desktop systems instead. (At the point of purchase.)
