This article details how to create and remove snapshot schedules.

    SOLUTION

    Displaying, creating, and deleting snapshots.
    ACTION COMMAND
    Display (list) snapshots
     
    DD OS 5.0 and later: 
    snapshot list mtree <mtree path>
    Note: See Example 1, below.
    Cteate a snapshot
     
    DD OS 5.0 and later: 
    snapshot create mtree [retention { | }]
    Note: See Creating a snapshot 181712 .
    Delete (expire) a snapshot
     
    DD OS 5.0 and later: 
    snapshot expire <snapshot> mtree <mtree path>
    Note: See Checking for Snapshots that are No Longer Needed 180570 .
    Managing Snapshot Schedules
    ACTION COMMAND
    Display all snapshot schedules 
    snapshot show schedule
    Note: See Example 2, below.
    Display a specific snapshot schedule 
    snapshot show schedule <name>
    Create a snapshot schedule DD OS 5.0 and later:Note: See Example 3, below.
    Add to an existing schedule DD OS 5.0 and later (only): 
    snapshot schedule add <name> mtrees <mtree-list>
    Note: This command is in DD OS 5.0 and later only.
    Delete a snapshot schedule
     
    DD OS 5.0 and later: 
    snapshot schedule destroy <schedule name>
    Delete (remove) all snapshot schedules All DD OS versions: 
    snapshot schedule reset
    or
     
    DD OS 5.0 and later: 
    snapshot schedule destroy all
    Delete a snapshot schedule
     
    DD OS 5.0 and later: 
    snapshot schedule destroy <schedule name>

    EXAMPLES

    Example 1.
    Display snapshots using DD OS 5.0 and later. 
    # snapshot list mtree /data/col1/ddmtree1
Snapshot Information for MTree: /data/col1/ddmtree1

Snapshot Summary

    The command output shows:
    • snapshot name
    • pre-compression amount of data in the snapshot
    • creation date
    • retention date
    • status (Status is either blank or Expired)
    Note: An expired snapshot remains available until the next file system clean operation. Use the snapshot expire command to set a future expiration date for an expired, but still available, snapshot.
    Example 2.
    Display (or list) all snapshot schedules. 
    # snapshot show schedule
Snapshots are scheduled to run "daily" at "0700". 
Snapshots are scheduled to run "daily" at "1900". 
Snapshots are retained for "60" days.
    Example 3.

    Creating snapshot schedules.
Snapshot schedules can be configured with any of the three following commands:
snapshot schedule create <schedule-name> [mtrees <mtree-list>] [days <days>] time <time>-<time> [every <hrs | mins>
snapshot schedule create <schedule-name> [mtrees <mtree-list>] [days <days>] time <time> [,<time> ...] [retention <period>] [snap-name-pattern <pattern>]
snapshot schedule create <schedule-name> [mtrees <mtree-list>] [days <days>] time <time> every <mins> [retention <period>] [snap-name-pattern <pattern>]
The above commands will create a snapshot schedule with the name of <schedule-name> that will create a snapshot of <mtree-list> during the days specified.
    Sample output:

    snapshot schedule create sched3 mtrees /data/col1/backup time 06:00 every 30mins

    • Schedule  sched3  will create a snapshot of /data/col1/backup at 6:00am and continue another snapshot every 30 minutes thereafter.
    • If additional mtrees need to be added to a specific snapshot schedule that has already been defined, please use snapshot schedule add:snapshot schedule add <name> mtrees <mtree-list>
      (This Add multiple MTrees to a single snapshot schedule).
