  • Unable to access the Data Domain system

  • All Software Releases
  • CIFS

Cause

Verify that CIFS is Enabled and Running.

Resolution

SOLUTION

  1. To ensure that CIFS is enabled and running. Run the following command on the Data Domain system:
    cifs status
    • If it reports CIFS is disabled. Run:
      cifs enable
    • If it reports "CIFS is enabled and running.", then CIFS is already running, and no further action is necessary.
    • If it reports "CIFS is enabled but not running" or "CIFS is enabled, but winbindd is not running.", or any other status, then try restarting CIFS by running ' cifs disable' followed by 'cifs enable'.
  2. If 'cifs status' continues to report a status other than "CIFS is enabled and running" after following these steps, open a case with support

NOTE:

Disabling CIFS will disable access to the Data Domain system over CIFS. Make sure nothing is reading or writing to the Data Domain system over CIFS before running these commands.
