說明

有兩個選項可用於建立新用戶端,並使用與先前使用的域不同的域。

選項 1:
1) edit the --dpndomain=entry in .avagent file
            cd /usr/local/avamar/var/CLIENT_NAME
            cat .avagent
We are looking for 2 entries:
--hostname="CLIENT_NAME" This is the name of the client being registered.
--dpndomain=/Isilon This is the domain the client will be logged to on the Avamar server.

edit the .avagent file to have the correct --hostname and --dpndomain name.

2) rerun avregister on the accelerator after editing the .avagent file.
Use the same domain as was previously used.

When done, do not change the .avagent. This will be needed if another client is created in the future.
If you setup multiple clients and wish to use alternative domains,
You will need to make this change for each one.
選項 2:
When avregister is run, all clients on the accelerator are registered to the provided domain.
If a client was previously registered to a different domain, it is registered to the domain entered in avregister.
In avregister, all clients are registered to the provided domain.

The issue arises when a customer tries to use multiple domains to manage the clients from a single NDMP accelerator node.

For example: A domain could be created for Isilon clients, Isilon and NetApp for NetApp clients and VNX for VNX clients.
The avregister script only allows one domain to be entered and all clients are assigned to that domain.

Keep this in mind and select Isilon for the domain. All clients are registered to the Isilon domain. Existing backups fail if the client was in a different domain.
The previous domain used still exists but no clients are assigned to it.
This causes confusion when tracking down why a backup is not running.

The easiest way to do this is to:
1) Only use a single domain so there is no fuss.
2) Before adding the client, note the existing client names and their domains.
3) Use the Avamar user interface > administrator and move the clients to a common domain.
Review the Avamar Administrator Guide or see the section below:
Moving a client to a new domain Procedure.

The domain must exist before clients can be moved to it.
For assistance, review the Avamar Administrator Guide or see the section below:
      Creating a domain Procedure

The same guide gives the steps for removing clients from the grid.

4) Run avregister on the Accelerator node and when asked for the domain, use the domain in step 3 that the clients were registered to.
If avregister complains that the client is already registered, use the Avamar admin user interface > Policy > Select the client under the client tab and clear the activated box.
5) After all the clients are re-registered, use the list you created in step 2) and the administrator in the Avamar and move the clients back to the desired groups.
Review the Avamar Administrator Guide or see the section below:
Moving a client to a new domain Procedure.

No other changes should be needed. The scheduled backups should run as before adding the client.
