Dell PowerFlex 4.5.x Install and Upgrade Guide

Introduction

The Dell PowerFlex 4.5.x Install and Upgrade Guide describes how to deploy a new instance of PowerFlex 4.5.x and instructions to upgrade existing 3.6.x or 4.0.x PowerFlex deployments to 4.5.x.

Use this guide only for PowerFlex software installations and upgrades. PowerFlex rack and PowerFlex appliance customers should not use this document for installations or upgrades. For PowerFlex rack documentation, go to PowerFlex rack technical documentation. For PowerFlex appliance documentation, go to PowerFlex appliance documentation.

To deploy PowerFlex 4.5.x for the first time, go to the Install section and do the following:

• Select deployment type
• Configure PowerFlex Manager
• Deploy additional storage or file nodes

To upgrade an existing PowerFlex 4.0.x or 4.5 system, go to the Upgrading PowerFlex from 4.0.2, 4.5 to 4.5.x section and do the following:

• Upgrade PowerFlex Manager to 4.5.x
• Upgrade PowerFlex storage
• Upgrade SDCs

To upgrade an existing PowerFlex 3.6.x system, go to the Upgrading to PowerFlex 4.5.x from PowerFlex 3.6 section and do the following:

• Deploy PowerFlex Manager
• Import existing PowerFlex 3.6.x system
• Upgrade PowerFlex system to PowerFlex 4.5.x
• Upgrade SDCs
