Removing the System Board

  1. Follow the procedures in Before Working Inside Your Computer .
  2. Remove:
    1. SD card
    2. battery
    3. base cover
    4. keyboard trim
    5. keyboard
    6. memory
    7. optical drive
    8. hard drive
    9. hard-drive cage
    10. WLAN card
    11. display hinge
    12. palmrest
    13. system fan
    14. ExpressCard cage
  3. Disconnect:
    1. coin-cell battery cable
    2. power-connector cable
    3. speaker cable

  4. Flip the computer and perform the following steps:
    1. Remove the screws that secure the display-cable connector and remove it from the system board.
    2. Disconnect the display cable and status-light board cable from the system board.

  5. Perform the following steps:
    1. Remove the screws that secure the system board on the computer.
