Removing the hard disk drive (HDD)

Steps

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the:
    1. Removing the SIM tray (WWAN models)
    2. base cover
    3. battery
  3. To remove the HDD:
    1. Disconnect the HDD cable from the system board [1].
    2. Remove the M2xL3 screws that secure the HDD to the palmrest [2].
    3. Lift the HDD from the computer [3].

  4. Disconnect the HDD cable interposer.

  5. Then, remove the M3xL3 screws to detach the metal bracket from the HDD [1].
