Removing the System Board

  1. Follow the procedures in Before Working Inside Your Computer .
  2. Remove the:
    1. VESA stand
    2. back cover
    3. VESA mount bracket
    4. system-board shield
    5. memory
    6. optical drive
    7. hard drive
    8. heatsink assembly
    9. power supply unit
    10. input/output (I/O) board shield
    11. converter board
    12. power-supply fan
  3. Disconnect all the cables that are connected to the system board.

  4. Perform the following steps as shown in the illustration.
    1. Remove the screws that secure the system board to the computer [1].
    2. Slide the system board to release it from the computer [2].
    3. Lift the system board away from the computer [3].

  5. Lift and remove the system board from the chassis.
