Dell PowerStore Planning Guide

VMware vSphere licensing (for PowerStore X model appliances)

PowerStore X model requires that you have a vSphere Enterprise Plus License or higher. PowerStore X model appliances include an embedded instance of VMware vSphere Enterprise 6.7. You can apply a license from an existing VMware ELA or purchase vSphere licenses from VMware or a partner.

PowerStore also supports VMware vSphere Remote Office Branch Office (ROBO) licenses for both ROBO Enterprise and ROBO Advanced.

NOTE: ROBO Advanced does not support DRS. Before applying a ROBO Advanced license to a PowerStore X model cluster, you must first disable DRS.

PowerStore X model requires an external vCenter server. This required vCenter server should have a Standard edition license with PowerStore X model.

NOTE: Optionally, you can use a vCenter Server Foundation edition license, which is limited to four hosts maximum being managed by the vCenter server. This Foundation edition license limits the PowerStore X model deployments to:
  • Two single appliance PowerStore X model clusters
  • A single appliance PowerStore X model cluster and two external ESXi hosts
