Removing the heat sink assembly

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer .
  2. Remove the:
    1. base cover

    2. battery

    3. hard drive assembly or M.2 SSD or PCIe SSD
    4. WLAN

    5. WWAN

    6. dock frame

  3. To remove the heat sink:
    1. Disconnect the fan cable [1].
    2. Remove the screws that secure the heat sink assembly to the system board [2, 3, 4, 5, 6].
    3. Lift the heat sink assembly from the system board [7]. Figure displaying the removal of heat sink assembly.
    • NOTE: The number of screws may vary depending upon the computer configuration.
