Removing the System Board

  1. Follow the procedures in Before Working Inside Your Computer .
  2. Remove the:
    1. base cover

    2. battery

    3. memory

    4. hard-drive assembly

    5. keyboard trim

    6. keyboard

    7. palmrest

    8. display-hinge brackets

    9. display assembly

    10. system fan

  3. Disconnect the speaker cable [1] and power-connector cable [2] from the system board. Figure displaying how to remove the speaker cable and DCin cable from the system board.
  4. Disconnect the audio-board cable [1] [2] and remove the screws that secure the system board to the computer [3]. Figure displaying how to disconnect the audio-board cable and how to remove the screws that secure the system board to the computer.
