iDRAC9 Security Configuration Guide

PDF

Secure Shell (SSH)

SSH or Secure Shell is a cryptographic network protocol for operating network services securely over an unsecured network. Typical applications include remote command-line, login, and remote command execution. On iDRAC, SSH can be used to run RACADM commands. It provides the same capabilities as the legacy telnet console (deprecated in iDRAC9 4.40.00.00) using an encrypted transport layer for higher security. The SSH service is enabled by default on iDRAC.

The security settings that are recommended for SSH are:.

  • Enable PKI
  • Do not use DSA keys
  • Enable only elliptic curve key exchanges
  • Enable only ciphers with 256-bit key strength or higher
