The PowerEdge R730 system supports PCI
express (PCIe) generation 3 expansion cards, which need to be installed
on the system board using expansion card risers. This system supports
three types of expansion card risers. The following table provides
the expansion card riser specifications:
Table 1. Expansion card
riser specificationsThis table describes the details of the PICe slots
on the expansion card risers. Riser 1 supports PCIe slots 1 through
3, with half height, low profile, x8 link speed cards. Riser 2 supports
two PCIe cards on slots 4 and 5. PCIe slot 4 supports a full height,
full length, x16 card and PCIe slot 5 supports a full height, full
length x8 card. Riser 3 has two card options. The default Riser 3
option supports two PCIe cards on slots 6 and 7. PCIe slot 6 supports
a full height, full length, x8 card and PCIe slot 7 supports a full
height, full length, x8 card. The alternate Riser 3 option supports
a single PCIe card on PCIe slot 6. The PCIe slot 6 supports a full
height, full length x16 card.
