Active System Manager Release 8.2 Installation Guide

Following is the prerequisite for Cisco Nexus:

• Enable “npv” feature on the switch. You need to reboot the switch and delete the old configuration. (Ensure to back up the configuration before enabling the feature).

• Enable required features.

  • NOTE: On systems with Cisco Nexus B22 Fabric Extenders, internal ports 17-32 are not supported hence, certain network ports in some servers may not function when used with this device.

• Create VSAN-instantiate it in the VSAN database.

• Configure regular Ethernet VLANs, and then the FCoE VLAN is created with an assignment to its respective VSAN.

• Instantiate but do not configure the upstream port-channel (LAG) to the core /aggregation switch.

• Instantiate but do not configure the downstream port-channel (LAG) to the IOA4.

• Create the VFC interface to bind to the servers CNA FIP MAC address. This can be located in the CMC WWN table or the iDRAC page for the server.

• Move back into the VSAN database and create entries for the new VFC just created and create entries for the FC ports that are used.

  • NOTE: All the Dell Compellent ports need to part of the same VSAN.

• Alias needs to be created having Compellent fault domain WWPN accessible on Brocade switch. Create a single alias including the virtual ports for the Compellent fault domain, WWPN accessible on Brocade switch. ASM automates the creation of each additional zone for the server objects and place them into a zone config.

• Brocade root password needs to be changed so that the banner presented to change the default password does not impact ASM's ability to ssh into the switch.
