AppSync

This document highlights minimum, recommended, and latest code versions for Dell Technologies Enterprise and Datacenter Infrastructure products. AppSync 4.3.0.0 and 4.3.0.1 now performs a Free All command when unlinking target devices for SnapVX copies. Version 4.3.0.1 also performs a Free All command when expiring a PowerMax or VMAX copy.

AppSync 4.4 was not allowing a KSH korn Shell to run. Stating: Ensure the script has correct extensions(.sh or .pl), no invalid characters in filename/filepath and script parameters.

LDAP Users and LDAP Groups are missing from the AppSync UI "Settings > User, Group, and Roles" post upgrade to AppSync 4.4.0.0 or 4.4.1.0.

Rename of Oracle Pluggable Database (PDB) fails on recovery if the PDB is opened when the Container Database (CDB) starts on Mount host.

AppSync detects the oracle database as offline those are running on ASM disk. A service plan protecting this database fails on the discovery phase.

After upgrading to AppSync 4.4, logging into the AppSync server from a remote CLI fails with the error: ERROR: Failed to authenticate USERNAME. This affects manual login and scripted login when using the AppSync CLI.

Users may experience intermittent errors when unmounting copies that contain VMware Virtual disks.

Restore from AppSync snapshot to the production host failed due to a timeout.

Uploading an AppSync license file in UI using a browser other than Chrome (IE or Firefox), where the file name format is "ArrayName_APPSY_XXXX_DATE.lic" displays an error.

SQL Full local backup copy creation failed at create local copy phase with Error: Users may see Windows based Service Plans fail with the following error: Create local copy phase for TARGET APPLICATION completed with errors. When we check the Server log we find the failure occurs after this message is seen: Exception Occurred: NumberFormatException, Message: For input string: "" This may be seen following an upgrade.

Automated AppSync Database backup through Windows scheduler, not creating AppSync Database copy

While running AppSync CLI on AIX client, it will fail with Error Failed to authenticate AppSync.

More than the allowed 4 VC connections are needed simultaneously.

SQL Service plan was failed during application discovery phase with error: Unable to connect to database Unable to connect to database <Db name>. This can happen if either SQL database is not in online state or ODBC driver is not properly installed. Check the AppSync host plug-in log for more details.

Pop-up error stating: Unable to stop "EMC AppSync server Service" is received while performing upgrades.

How to create SAP HANA copies with AppSync.

Clustered SQL Server instances are not showing up in the AppSync UI under: Copy Management > Copies > Microsoft SQL Server when Clustered SQL Server virtual (or network) name or associated virtual IP (VIP) is not added as a host in the AppSync UI.

Issue is with Java version or Java class.

AppSync unmount operations can hang for VMWare related copies.

On the AppSync Server, the <install drive>:\EMC\AppSync\Jboss folder is filling up due to lot of mdmp files getting created.

Followed by an upgrade to 4.2.0.x, the Dashboard/Jobs Status section and the Jobs tab may not show the proper information.

AppSync 4.2 added SAP HANA as a supported application. In some cases, you may see the pop-up message "Error while discovering SAP HANA system on <host name>" when discovering Unix or Linux hosts with no SAP HANA installation.

If during a Mount and Recover operation of an Oracle Database on a Red Hat Linux server takes over 5 minutes to start up AppSync may time out while waiting. Subsequent unmount jobs will fail for the same reason.

After a reboot, Windows non-clustered devices were not coming online when using PowerShell to online the devices. Coincidentally, the AppSync plugin was recently installed.

Under certain circumstances, users may see RPO errors despite all Service Plan phases completing successfully. The following error may be seen in the Service Plan events. Recovery Point Objective for Source-Server/Application-Element is out of compliance. Run the service plan after fixing errors to restore compliance.
