Many users have CA policies that prohibit IP addresses in the certificate SAN (Subject Alternative Name) and only FQDNs (Fully Qualified Domain Names) are allowed. The lack of IP addresses in the certificate conflicts with PowerFlex Manager logic when it comes to the zipper or yum repositories that we use. PowerFlex 4.8 has a new feature to support stringent rules for certificates. This is a new security mode within package manager. Now, when creating a custom certificate or the Powerflex appliance certificate, the customer can choose between Standard and Stringent modes. The Standard Mode doesn't require DNS, but includes IPs and FQDNs, and the Stringent mode in which PowerFlex Manager converts the ingress IPS to FQDNs and then builds the repo URLs.

After every reboot of an AIX LPAR running the PowerFlex Storage Data Client (SDC), the scini device is not configured automatically and the PowerFlex disks are missing until cfgmgr is run by hand. The root cause is the predefined-device (PdDv) cfgscini log directory pointing to /opt, which is not yet mounted at rc.boot phase 2, so the cfgscini device method fails with return code 11. Relocating the log directory to /var (a filesystem mounted at phase 2) restores automatic configuration of the scini device at boot. This is a boot-time configuration issue only; it is not caused by ODM corruption or an invalid client GUID.

PowerFlex SDSs with Samsung PM1733a NVMe SSDs running firmware 1.0.X or 1.1.X may experience intermittent drive dropouts. Elevated latency and slow I/O on affected drives can trigger cascading timeout failures, including Data Unavailability (DU) events, upgrade failures, and daily operation issues.

Due to unarmed (persistent write-disabled) NVDIMMs that prevented a save operation when the nodes were shut down, triggered by low-voltage on Battery Backup Unit (BBU) at boot time, PowerFlex SDS processes configured with fine granularity storage pools utilizing /dev/dax* devices, may be at risk of losing the contents of the /dev/dax* devices during the next power cycle. This will cause associated storage devices to enter an unrecoverable error state, which may result in a DU/DL situation, depending on the number of affected SDS hosts (nodes) and fault set configuration.
