How to replace the Wireless Module (WLAN) on a Precision 7875 Tower

This 3D experience gives you the step by step process of replacing the Wireless Module (WLAN) and a Precision 7875 Tower. The procedure will also include removing the Side Cover, Air Shroud, PCIe Holder, Powered Graphics Card, WLAN and reinstalling them.

Removal

Side Cover

1. Identify the side cover highlighted in blue.
2. Unlock the side panel latch using a Phillips screwdriver.
3. Press to open the latch of the side cover. Pull the release latch to release the side cover from the chassis.
4. Open the side cover at an angle and lift the cover away from the chassis.

Air Shroud

1. Identify the air shroud highlighted in blue.
2. Hold the top air shroud at the grip points and pull it upwards out of the chassis.

PCIe Holder

1. Position the the system as shown in the video
2. Identify the PCIe holder highlighted in blue.
3. Disconnect the PCIe power cables from the connectors on the PCIe holder.
4. Unroute the PCIe power cables from the hooks on the chassis.
5. Push the PCIe holder lock into the unlock position.
6. Push the latch towards the PCIe holder lock, then lift and remove the PCIe holder out of the chassis.

Powered Graphics Card

1. Identify the powered graphics card highlighted in blue.
2. Disconnect the PCIe power cable from the connector on the graphics card.
3. Push the PCIe latch to open the PCIe door.
4. Lift the graphics card away from the graphics card slot.

Wireless Module (WLAN)

1. Position the the system as shown in the video
2. Identify the wireless module (WLAN) highlighted in blue.
3. Remove the screw that secures the wireless card bracket to the system board.
4. Lift the wireless card bracket off the wireless card.
5. Disconnect the WLAN antenna cables from the connectors on the WLAN card.
6. Slide and remove the wireless card from its slot on the system board.

Install

Wireless Module (WLAN)

1. Identify the wireless module (WLAN) location highlighted in blue.
2. Slide the wireless card at an angle into its slot on the system board.
3. Connect the black cable to the auxiliary (black triangle).
4. Connect the white cable to the main (white triangle).
5. Install the wireless card bracket into the wireless card on the system board.
6. Install the screw that secures the wireless card bracket to the system board.
7. Position the the system as shown in the video

Powered Graphics Card

1. Identify the powered graphics card location highlighted in blue.
2. Using the alignment post, push the graphic card connector firmly into the PCIe slot and press down firmly.
3. Close the PCIe door, locking it into position.
4. Connect the PCIe power cable from the connector on the graphics card.

PCIe Holder

1. Identify the PCIe holder location highlighted in blue.
2. Align and place the PCIe holder on the slot over the front fan.
3. Push the PCIe holder lock into the lock position to secure the PCIe holder to the chassis.
4. Route the PCIe power cables through the hooks on the chassis.
5. Connect the PCIe power cables to the PCIe holder.
6. Position the the system as shown in the video

Air Shroud

1. Identify the air shroud location highlighted in blue.
2. Install the air shroud and press the top air shroud down until the tabs click into place.

Side Cover

1. Identify the side cover location highlighted in blue.
2. Align the tabs with the slots and install the side cover on the chassis.
3. Using a Phillips screwdriver, turn the side panel latch to the locked position.
