Removal
Base Cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the base cover.
Pry the base cover near the hinges to release it from the system.
Remove the base cover by loosening the sides and front.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Using the pull tab, lift up to disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Battery
Wireless Module (WLAN)
Identify the wireless module (WLAN) highlighted in blue.
Loosen the single captive screw that secures the WLAN card bracket
Remove the bracket to access the WLAN cables.
Disconnect the antenna cables (black and white cables) from the WLAN.
Remove the WLAN from the connector.
Wireless Module (WWAN)
Identify the wireless module (WWAN) highlighted in blue.
Loosen the single captive screw that secures the WWAN card bracket
Slide and remove the WWAN card bracket off the WWAN card
Using a plastic scribe, disconnect the antenna cables from the WWAN.
Remove the WWAN card from the connector on the system board.
SSD (Solid State Drive) 2280
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the SSD.
Slide and lift the SSD to disconnect it from the system.
SSD (Solid State Drive) 2230
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the SSD to the SSD holder.
Slide the SSD away from the SSD holder.
System Fan
Identify the fan highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the system fan cable from the connector on the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the system fan to the system board.
Slide to remove the system fan from the system.
Chassis Frame
Identify the chassis frame highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the chassis frame and optional fingerprint bracket.
Disconnect the speaker cable and partially unroute from the chassis frame.
Remove the screws that secure the chassis frame to the system.
Lift to remove the chassis frame.
Display Cables
Identify the display cables highlighted in blue.
Peel the tape that secures the display cable to the system.
Lift the latch and disconnect the display cable. Be careful not to damage the latch or connector.
Remove the screws that secure the eDP bracket to the system board.
Lift the display/eDP bracket away from the system.
Pull the tab upwards to disconnect the eDP cable.
System board Assembly
Identify the system board highlighted in blue.
Lift the latch and disconnect the LED board cable.
Peel the coin-cell battery off the palm rest and unroute the cable.
Remove the screws that secure the USB Type-C bracket
Remove the metal bracket that secures the USB Type-C port.
Remove the screws that secure the system board to the palm rest.
Remove the screw that secures the heat sink to the palm rest.
Slide the system board to the left and remove from the system with the coin cell.
Power button
Identify the power button highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the power button.
Lift the power button from the system.
Install
Power button
Identify the power button location highlighted in blue.
Place the power button into the slot on the palm rest.
Install the screws that secure the power button.
System board Assembly
Identify the system board assembly location highlighted in blue.
Install the system board assembly on the plamrest
Install the screws to secure the system board to the palm rest.
Install the screw that secures the heat sink.
Install the metal bracket that secures the USB Type-C port.
Install the screws that secures the USB Type-C port bracket.
Adhere the coin cell to the slot on the palm rest and route the cable along the guides.
Connect the LED board cable. Close the latch to secure.
Display Cables
Identify the display cables location highlighted in blue.
Push down to connect the eDP cable to the connector on the system board.
Connect the display cable and close the latch to secure.
Adhere the tape that secures the display cable to the system.
Install the display/eDP support bracket.
Install the screws to secure the eDP bracket to the system board.
Chassis Frame
Identify the chassis frame highlighted in blue.
Align and place the chassis frame on the system chassis.
Install the screws to secure the chassis frame to the system.
Install the screw that secures the chassis frame and optional fingerprint bracket.
Route the speaker cable along the chassis frame and connect it to the system board.
System Fan
Identify the system fan location highlighted in blue.
Install the system fan into the slot on the system.
Install the screws that secure the system fan to the system board.
Connect the system fan cable to the connector on the system board.
SSD (Solid State Drive) 2230
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) location highlighted in blue.
Align and slide the SSD into the slot on the system board.
Install the screw that secures the SSD to the SSD holder.
SSD (Solid State Drive) 2280
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) location highlighted in blue.
Align the notch on the SSD with the tab on the slot and slide the SSD into the slot.
Install the screw to secure the SSD to the system.
Wireless Module (WWAN)
Identify the wireless module (WWAN) location highlighted in blue.
Insert the WWAN card into the connector on the system board.
Connect the black cable to the auxiliary (black triangle).
Connect the white cable to the main (white triangle).
Install the bracket to secure the WWAN antenna cables.
Tighten the single captive screw to secure the WWAN card bracket
Wireless Module (WLAN)
Identify the wireless module (WLAN) location highlighted in blue.
Insert the WLAN into the connector on the system board.
Connect the black cable to the auxiliary (black triangle).
Connect the white cable to the main (white triangle).
Install the bracket to secure the antenna cables.
Tighten the single captive screw to secure the WWAN card bracket
Battery
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Push down to connect the battery cable to the connector on the system board.
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Align the base cover tabs to the slots, press the cover until it clicks into place.
Tighten the captive screws that secure the base cover to the system.
