Removal
Left side cover
Place your computer as shown.
Identify the side cover highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the side cover to the system.
Slide and lift the side cover away from the system.
Fan shroud
Identify the fan shroud highlighted in blue.
Press the retention tabs on both sides of the fan shroud to release it.
Remove the fan shroud off the chassis.
Processor and Heat Sink Assembly
Identify the processor fan and heat sink assembly highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the processor fan cable from the connector on the system board.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the processor fan and heat sink assembly to the system board. Loosen in reverse order.
Remove the processor fan and heat sink assembly from the system board.
Use the alcohol pad to clean the heatsink (as shown in the video)
Processor
Identify the processor highlighted in blue.
Press down and push the release lever away from the processor to release it from the securing tab.
Lift the lever upward to lift the processor cover.
Remove the processor from the processor socket.
Install
Processor
Identify the processor location highlighted in blue.
Ensure that the release lever on the processor socket is fully extended in the open position.
Align the notches on the processor with the tabs on the socket and place it on the socket.
The processor is in place, lower the release lever and secure it under the tab on the processor cover.
Processor and Heat Sink Assembly
Identify the processor fan and heat sink assembly location highlighted in blue.
Apply a pea sized amount of thermal material as shown.
Install the processor fan and heat sink assembly on the system board and align with screw holes.
Tighten the captive screws that secure the processor fan and heat sink assembly to the system board. Tighten in order. Do not over tighten.
Connect the processor fan cable to the connector on the system board.
Fan shroud
Identify the fan shroud location highlighted in blue.
Place the fan shroud into the slots on the chassis.
Push the fan shroud towards the back panel of the chassis until it clicks into place.
Left side cover
Identify the side cover location highlighted in blue.
Align the tabs on the side cover with the slots and place the side cover on the system.
Install the screws that secure the side cover to the system.
