How to replace the Type-C module on a Optiplex Micro Plus 7020

This 3D experience gives you the step by step process of replacing the Type-C module and a Optiplex Micro Plus 7020. The procedure will also include removing the Side Cover, Speaker, Fan Assembly and reinstalling them.

Removal

Side Cover

Identify the side cover highlighted in blue.

Loosen the thumb screw that secures the side cover to the chassis.

Slide and lift the side cover off the chassis.

Speaker

Identify the speaker highlighted in blue.

Disconnect the speaker cable from the system board.

Remove the speaker cable from the routing guides on the chassis.

Press on the tab that secures the speaker and lift the speaker off the system board.

Fan Assembly

Identify the fan assembly highlighted in blue.

Press and hold the tabs that secures the fan assembly to the system board.

Lift the fan assembly off the system board and flip over the fan assembly.

Disconnect the fan cable from the system board.

Lift the fan assembly off the chassis.

Type-C module

Identify the Type-C module highlighted in blue.

Remove the screws that secure the Type-C module.

Remove the Type-C module from its slot on the chassis.

Lift and hold the Type-C module in place above the system board.

Disconnect the Type-C display port and USB cables from the system board.

Remove the Type-C module from the computer.

Install

Type-C module

Identify the Type-C module position highlighted in blue.

Place the Type-C module at an angle and hold in position.

Connect the Type-C display port and USB cables to the system board and align the Type-C module on the system.

Insert the Type-C module into its slot from the inside of your computer.

Install the screws that secure the Type-C module.

Fan Assembly

Identify the fan assembly location highlighted in blue.

Align and place the fan assembly near to the chassis.

Connect the fan cable to the system board.

Flip over the fan assembly.

Grab the tabs on the fan assembly, insert it into the system board slot and then release the tabs.

Speaker

Identify the speaker location highlighted in blue.

Press and hold on the tab on the speaker and place the speaker on the system board.

Route the speaker cable through the routing guides on the chassis.

Connect the speaker cable to the system board.

Side Cover

Identify the side cover location highlighted in blue.

Slide the side cover into place towards the front of the computer.

Tighten the thumb screw that secure the side cover to the chassis.
