How to replace the Memory module on a Inspiron 3520

This 3D experience gives you the step by step process of replacing the Memory module on a Inspiron 3520.

Removal

Base Cover

1. Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
2. Remove the screws that secure the base cover to the system.
3. Loosen the captive screws on the base cover.
4. Using a plastic scribe, pry the base cover near the hinges to release it from the system.
5. Lift the base cover off the system.

Memory module

1. Identify the memory modules highlighted in blue.
2. Using your fingertips, carefully spread apart the securing clips on each end until the memory module pops up.
3. Hold the edges and carefully lift the memory module up from connector on the system board.

Install

Memory module

1. Identify the memory modules location highlighted in blue.
2. Align the notch on the memory module with the tab on the slot and slide the memory into the slot at an angle.
3. Press the memory module down until it clicks into place.

Base Cover

1. Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
2. Align the base cover and press the edges of the cover until it clicks into place.
3. Tighten the captive screws that secure the base cover.
