Removal
Base Cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the base cover.
Pry the base cover near the hinges to release it from the system. Do not slide it along the back.
Remove the base cover by loosening the sides and front.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Using the pull tab, disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Battery
Identify the battery highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the speaker cable and unroute the speaker cable from the routing guides.
Remove the screw that secures the battery.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the battery to the system.
Lift the battery out of the system.
SSD
WWAN - Wireless Module
Identify the wireless module (WWAN) highlighted in blue.
Using a plastic scribe, pry from the top left corner to remove the WWAN shield.
Loosen the screw that secures the WWAN card bracket.
Remove the bracket that secures the WWAN antenna cables.
Using a plastic scribe, disconnect the antenna cables from the WWAN.
Slide to remove the WWAN card from the connector on the system board.
Heatsink
Identify the heatsink and fan assembly highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the fan cable from the connector on the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the fan to the system.
Loosen the screws that secure the heatsink to the system board. Loosen in reverse order.
Remove the heatsink assembly from the system.
Use the alcohol pad to clean the heatsink (as shown in the video)
Display Cable
Identify the display cable highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws securing the display cable bracket to the system board.
Lift to remove the display cable bracket from the system.
Disconnect the display cable and optional camera, touch screen, sensor board cables.
Unroute the display cables from the routing guides on the palm rest.
Remove the screw securing the WLAN card bracket to the system board.
Lift the bracket from the WLAN card module on the system board.
Disconnect the WLAN antenna cables from the WLAN module.
Unroute the WLAN antenna from the routing channel.
System Board
Identify the system board highlighted in blue.
Insert a pin or use a plastic scribe to release the SIM card tray and remove from the system.
Remove the screw that secures the system board (and optional fingerprint reader bracket).
Lift the latch and disconnect the touchpad, LED board, audio board and optional USH cables.
Lift the latch and disconnect the speaker board cable from the system board.
Disconnect the tweeter cable from the system board
Remove the screws securing the system board.
Remove the screws securing the system board to the IO board.
Remove the screws securing the USB-C port on the system board.
Carefully slide the system board to the right to clear the ports and remove.
Power button
Identify the power button with optional fingerprint reader highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws securing the power button to the system.
Lift and remove the power button with optional fingerprint reader.
Install
Power button
Identify the power button location highlighted in blue.
Install the power button with optional fingerprint reader into the slot on the system.
Install the screws that secure the power button with optional fingerprint reader.
System Board
Identify the system board location highlighted in blue.
Install the system board and align the screw holes and ports. Make sure all cables are clear.
Install the screws to secure the USB-C port on the system board.
Install the screws to secure the system board to the IO board.
Install the screws to secure the system board.
Connect the tweeter cable to the system board.
Connect the speaker board cable. Close the latch to secure.
Connect the LED board, optional USH, touchpad and audio board cables. Close the latch to secure.
Install the screw to secure the system board (and optional fingerprint reader bracket).
Install the SIM tray into the slot on the system.
Display Cable
Identify the display cable location highlighted in blue.
Route the display cable along the guiding guides on the palm rest.
Connect the display and optional camera, touch screen, sensor board cables.
Align and place the display cable bracket on the connector on the system board.
Install the screws securing the display cable bracket to the system board.
Connect the antenna cables to the WLAN module and route the cables. Note the connections.
Install the bracket to secure the WLAN antenna cables.
Install the screw that secures the WLAN bracket to the system board.
Heatsink
Identify the heatsink and fan assembly location highlighted in blue.
Apply a pea sized amount of thermal material as shown.
Install the heatsink assembly into the slot on the system board and align the screw holes.
Tighten the screws that secure the heatsink to the system board. Tighten in order.
Install the screws that secure the fan to the system.
Connect the system fan cable to the system board.
WWAN - Wireless Module
Identify the wireless module (WWAN) location highlighted in blue.
Insert the WWAN card into the connector on the system board.
Connect the black cable to the auxiliary (black triangle).
Connect the white cable to the main (white triangle).
Install the bracket to secure the WWAN antenna cables.
Tighten the screw that secures the WWAN card bracket to the system board.
Install the WWAN shield by inserting the edges into the clips on the system board.
SSD
Battery
Identify the battery location highlighted in blue.
Insert the battery into the slot on the system and align the screw holes.
Install the screw to secure the battery.
Tighten the captive screws to secure the battery.
Connect the speaker cable and route it through the guides on the battery.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to the connector on the system board.
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Align the base cover tabs to the slots, press the cover until it clicks into place.
Tighten the captive screws that secure the base cover to the system.
