Removal
Base Cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly.
Use a plastic scribe to pry open the base cover at the gap near the display hinges.
Use a plastic scribe to pry open the base cover, inserting it at intervals to release the top, left, right, and bottom edges.
Lift the base cover off the palm rest assembly.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Heat sink - Discrete
Identify the heat sink highlighted in blue.
Loosen the screws that secure the heat sink to the system board. Loosen in reverse order.
Lift the heat sink from the system.
Use the alcohol pad to clean the system board and heatsink (as shown in the video).
Graphic card
Identify the graphics card highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the F-beam connector to the system board and GPU card.
Remove the F-beam connector from the system.
Remove the screws that secure the graphics card to the palm rest assembly.
Lift the graphics card off the palm rest assembly.
Install
Graphic card
Identify the graphics card location highlighted in blue.
Align and place the graphics card on the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws that secure the graphics card to the palm rest assembly.
Install the F-beam connector to the system.
Install the screws that secure the F-beam connector to the system board and GPU card.
Heat sink - Discrete
Identify the heat sink location highlighted in blue.
Apply a pea sized amount of thermal material as shown.
Align and install the heat sink on the system.
Tighten the screws that secure the heat sink. Tighten in order. Do not over tighten.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to the system board.
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Align and place the base cover on the palm rest assembly, and snap it into place.
Tighten the captive screws to secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly.
