How to replace the Left Control Panel on a PowerEdge R7725

This 3D experience gives you the step by step process of replacing the Left Control Panel and a PE R7725. The procedure will also include removing the System Cover, Wing Air Shroud, Cooling Fan Cage Assembly, Drive Backplane Cover, Riser 1 Assembly, Riser 3 Assembly, Riser 2 Assembly, Riser 5 Assembly, Riser 4 Assembly and reinstalling them.

Removal

System Cover

1. Identify the system cover highlighted in blue.
2. Using a Phillips #2 screwdriver, rotate the lock counterclockwise to the unlock position.
3. Lift the release latch until the system cover slides back.
4. Lift the system cover off the system.

Wing Air Shroud

1. Identify the wing air shroud highlighted in blue.
2. Hold the edges of the wing air shroud and lift it out of the system.

Cooling Fan Cage Assembly

1. Identify the cooling fan cage assembly highlighted in blue.
2. Lift the blue release levers to unlock the cooling fan cage assembly from the system.
3. Hold the release levers and lift the cooling fan cage assembly away from the system.

Drive Backplane Cover

1. Identify the drive backplane cover highlighted in blue.
2. Slide the backplane cover in the direction indicated by the arrows on the drive backplane cover.
3. Lift the backplane cover from the system.

Riser 1 Assembly

1. Identify the riser highlighted in blue.
2. Loosen the screws that secure the riser to the system.
3. Holding the edges, lift the expansion card riser from the connector on the system board.

Riser 3 Assembly

1. Identify the riser highlighted in blue.
2. Loosen the screws that secure the riser to the system.
3. Holding the edges, lift the expansion card riser from the connector on the system board.

Riser 2 Assembly

1. Identify the riser highlighted in blue.
2. Slide the knob to the unlocked position.
3. Holding the edges, lift the expansion card riser from the system board.

Riser 5 Assembly

1. Identify the riser highlighted in blue.
2. Loosen the screw that secures the riser to the system.
3. Holding the edges, lift the expansion card riser from the connector on the system board.

Riser 4 Assembly

1. Identify the riser highlighted in blue.
2. Pull and disconnect the riser cable from the HPM board.
3. Holding the edges, lift the expansion card riser from the system board.

Left Control Panel

1. Identify the left control panel highlighted in blue.
2. Disconnect the left control panel cable from the attic board.
3. Remove the screws that secure the cable cover to the system.
4. Slide and remove the left control panel cable cover from the system.
5. Unroute the left control panel cable from the routing guides on the system.
6. Remove the screws that secure the left control panel to the system.
7. Slide and remove the left control panel from the system.

Install

Left Control Panel

1. Identify the left control panel location highlighted in blue.
2. Align and slide the left control panel into the slot on the system.
3. Install the screws that secure the left control panel to the system.
4. Route the right control panel cable through the routing guides on the system.
5. Align and slide the left control panel cable cover into the slot on the system.
6. Install the screws that secure the cable cover to the system.
7. Connect the left control panel cable to the attic board.

Riser 4 Assembly

1. Identify the rear riser location highlighted in blue.
2. Align the riser with the connector and guide pin, lower it and press to seat it fully.
3. Connect the riser cable connector to the HPM board.

Riser 5 Assembly

1. Identify the riser location highlighted in blue.
2. Align the riser with the connector and guide pin, lower it and press to seat it fully.
3. Tighten the screw that secures the riser to the system.

Riser 2 Assembly

1. Identify the riser location highlighted in blue.
2. Align the riser with the connector and guide pin, lower it and press to seat it fully.
3. Slide the knob into the lock position.

Riser 3 Assembly

1. Identify the riser location highlighted in blue.
2. Align the riser with the connector and guide pin, lower it and press to seat it fully.
3. Tighten the screws that secure the riser to the system.

Riser 1 Assembly

1. Identify the riser location highlighted in blue.
2. Align the riser with the connector and guide pin, lower it and press to seat it fully.
3. Tighten the screws that secure the riser to the system.

Drive Backplane Cover

1. Identify the drive backplane cover location highlighted in blue.
2. Align the drive backplane cover with the guide slots on the system.
3. Slide the drive backplane cover to the front of the system until it fits into place.

Cooling Fan Cage Assembly

1. Identify the cooling fan cage assembly location highlighted in blue.
2. Align the guide rails and lower the cooling fan cage assembly into the system until it is seated firmly.
3. Lower the blue release lever and press to lock the cooling fan cage assembly into the system.

Wing Air Shroud

1. Identify the wing air shroud location highlighted in blue.
2. Align the slot and lower the wing air shroud into the system until it is firmly seated.

System Cover

1. Identify the system cover location highlighted in blue.
2. Align the tabs on the system cover with the guide slots on the system, then slide the cover into place.
3. Close the system cover release latch.
4. Using a Phillips #2 screwdriver, rotate the lock clockwise to the locked position.
