This 3D experience gives you the step by step process of replacing the Processor and a PE R7725. The procedure will also include removing the System Cover, Wing Air Shroud, Heatsink Module and reinstalling them.
Removal
System Cover
Identify the system cover highlighted in blue.
Using a Phillips #2 screwdriver, rotate the lock counterclockwise to the unlock position.
Lift the release latch until the system cover slides back.
Lift the system cover off the system.
Wing Air Shroud
Identify the wing air shroud highlighted in blue.
Hold the edges of the wing air shroud and lift it out of the system.
Heatsink Module
Identify the heat sink module highlighted in blue.
Using a Torx #T20 screwdriver, loosen the screws that secure the heat sink in reverse order.
Lift the heatsink from the system.
Remove the thermal grease on the processor and heat sink by using a thin lint free cloth. (as shown in the video)
Processor
Identify the processor highlighted in blue.
Using a Torx #T20 screwdriver, loosen the middle screw to release the retention frame.
Hold and lift the retention frame until it is fully open.
Lift the rail frame by gripping the two blue tabs and rotate the rail frame upwards to a vertical position.
Slide the carrier frame together with the processor out from the rail frame by holding on to the green tab.
Install
Processor
Identify the processor location highlighted in blue.
Insert the carrier frame with the processor into the rail frame until the carrier frame clicks in place with the rail frame.
Close the rail frame down and press the blue tabs to click in place.
Rotate and close the retention frame to secure the rail frame.
Using a Torx #T20 screwdriver, tighten the captive screw on the spring loaded retention frame.
Heatsink Module
Identify the heat sink module location highlighted in blue.
Apply the grease in a thin quadrilateral spiral on the top of the processor.
Align the heat sink with the guide pins and then place the heat sink module on the processor socket.
Using a Torx #T20 screwdriver, tighten the screws that secure the heat sink. Tighten in order. Do not over tighten.
Wing Air Shroud
Identify the wing air shroud location highlighted in blue.
Align the slot and lower the wing air shroud into the system until it is firmly seated.
System Cover
Identify the system cover location highlighted in blue.
Align the tabs on the system cover with the guide slots on the system, then slide the cover into place.
Close the system cover release latch.
Using a Phillips #2 screwdriver, rotate the lock clockwise to the locked position.
