Removal
Base Cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the base cover.
Using a plastic scribe, pry the base cover from the recesses located near the hinges.
Remove the base cover by loosening the sides and front.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Using the pull tab, lift up to disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Heatsink
Identify the heatsink assembly highlighted in blue. Ensure the system is cooled down before removal.
Disconnect the fan cable from the connector on the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the system fan.
Loosen the screws that secure the heatsink. Loosen in reverse order.
Remove the heatsink assembly from the system. Use caution to not bend the heatsink.
Use the alcohol pad to clean the heatsink (as shown in the video).
Install
Heatsink
Identify the heatsink assembly location highlighted in blue.
Apply a pea sized amount of thermal material as shown.
Install the heatsink assembly on the system board and align the screw holes.
Tighten the screws that secure the heat sink. Tighten in sequential order.
Install the screws that secure the system fan.
Connect the fan cable to the connector on the system board.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Push down to connect the battery cable to the connector on the system board.
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Install the base cover and press the edges and sides until it snaps into place.
Tighten the screws to secure the base cover to the system.
