Removal
Base Cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the base cover.
Using a plastic scribe, pry the base cover from the recesses located near the hinges.
Remove the base cover by loosening the sides and front.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Using the pull tab, lift up to disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Battery
Identify the battery highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the battery.
Lift the battery out of the system.
Hard Drive Assembly or bracket
Wireless Module (WLAN)
Identify the wireless module (WLAN) highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screw that secures the WLAN card bracket.
Remove the bracket to access the WLAN cables.
Disconnect the antenna cables (black and white cables) from the WLAN.
Slide to remove the WLAN from the connector.
Wireless Module (WWAN)
Identify the wireless module (WWAN) highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the WWAN card bracket
Slide and remove the WWAN card bracket off the WWAN card
Using a plastic scribe, disconnect the antenna cables from the WWAN. Note the cable connections.
Slide to remove the WWAN from the connector.
Memory Modules
Identify the memory module highlighted in blue.
Using your fingertips, carefully spread apart the securing clips on each end until the memory module pops up.
Hold the edges and carefully lift the memory module up from connector on the system board.
SSD (Solid State Drive) 2280
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the SSD and thermal shield.
Lift to remove the SSD thermal shield.
Slide and lift the SSD to disconnect it from the system.
SSD (Solid State Drive) 2230
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the SSD thermal shield.
Lift to remove the SSD thermal shield.
Remove the screw that secures the SSD.
Slide the SSD away from the SSD holder.
Chassis Frame
Identify the chassis frame highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the chassis frame or optional fingerprint cable bracket.
Remove the screws that secure the assembly inner frame bracket to the chassis frame.
Remove the assembly inner frame bracket.
Remove the screws that secure the chassis frame to the system.
Lift to remove the chassis frame.
Display Cables
Identify the display cables highlighted in blue.
Peel the tape that secures the display cable to the system.
Using the pull tab, disconnect the display cable from the connector on the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the eDP bracket to the system board.
Lift the display/eDP bracket away from the system.
Disconnect the eDP cable and unroute it from the routing guide.
System board Assembly
Identify the system board assembly highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the USB Type-C bracket
Remove the metal bracket that secures the USB Type-C port.
Lift the latch and disconnect the LED board cable.
Disconnect the speaker cable from the system board assembly.
Remove the screws that secure the system fan to the palm rest.
Remove the screws that secure the system board assembly to the palm rest.
Peel the coin cell battery and unroute it from the guides on the palm rest. Do not disconnect.
Slide and lift the system board assembly and coin cell from the palm rest.
Power button
Identify the power button with optional fingerprint cable highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the power button.
Lift the power button with optional fingerprint cable from the system.
Install
Power button
Identify the power button with optional fingerprint cable location highlighted in blue.
Place the power button into the slot on the palm rest.
Install the screws that secure the power button.
System board Assembly
Identify the system board assembly location highlighted in blue.
Slide the system board assembly into the slot and align the ports. Make sure all cables are clear.
Adhere the coin cell to the slot on the palm rest and route the cable through the guides.
Install the screws to secure the system board assembly to the palm rest.
Install the screws that secure the fan to the palm rest.
Install the metal bracket that secures the USB Type-C port.
Install the screws that secure the USB Type-C port bracket.
Connect the LED board cable. Close the latch to secure.
Connect the speaker cable to the system board assembly.
Display Cables
Identify the display cables location highlighted in blue.
Route the cables through the guide and connect the eDP cable to the connector.
Connect the display cable to the connector on the system board.
Adhere the tape that secures the display cable to the system.
Install the display/eDP support bracket.
Install the screws to secure the eDP bracket to the system board.
Chassis Frame
Identify the chassis frame highlighted in blue.
Install the chassis frame into the slot on the system and align the screw holes.
Install the screws to secure the chassis frame to the system.
Install the assembly inner frame bracket.
Install the screws that secure the assembly inner frame bracket to the chassis frame.
Install the screw that secures the chassis frame or optional fingerprint bracket.
SSD (Solid State Drive) 2230
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) location highlighted in blue.
Align and slide the SSD into the slot on the system board.
Install the screw that secures the SSD to the SSD holder.
Install the SSD thermal shield and align the screw holes.
Install the screws to secure the SSD thermal shield.
SSD (Solid State Drive) 2280
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) location highlighted in blue.
Align the notch on the SSD with the tab on the slot and slide the SSD into the slot.
Install the SSD thermal shield and align the screw holes.
Install the screw(s) to secure the SSD to the system.
Memory Modules
Identify the memory module location highlighted in blue.
Align the notch on the memory module with the tab on the slot and slide the memory into the slot at an angle.
Press the memory module down until it clicks into place.
Wireless Module (WWAN)
Identify the wireless module (WWAN) location highlighted in blue.
Insert the WWAN card into the connector on the system board.
Connect the black cable to the auxiliary (black triangle).
Connect the white cable to the main (white triangle).
Install the bracket to secure the WWAN antenna cables.
Install the screw to secure the WWAN card bracket
Wireless Module (WLAN)
Identify the wireless module (WLAN) location highlighted in blue.
Insert the WLAN into the connector on the system board.
Connect the black cable to the auxiliary (black triangle).
Connect the white cable to the main (white triangle).
Install the bracket to secure the antenna cables.
Tighten the captive screw to secure the WLAN card bracket
Hard Drive Assembly or bracket
Battery
Identify the battery location highlighted in blue.
Install the battery into the slot on the system, aligning the screw holes.
Install the screws that secure the battery.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Push down to connect the battery cable to the connector on the system board.
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Install the base cover and press the edges and sides until it snaps into place.
Tighten the screws to secure the base cover to the system.
