Removal
Base Cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
Using a Torx #5, remove the screws that secure the base cover to the system.
Place fingers into the recess at the top edge and move your hands to both sides to pry the base cover.
Lift the base cover off the system.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Loosen the screw that secures the battery connector bracket to the palm rest assembly.
Unhook and lift the battery connector bracket off the system board.
Using the pull tab, disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Heatsink
Identify the heat sink highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the heat sink to the system board. Loosen in reverse order.
Lift the heat sink off the system.
Use the alcohol pad to clean the thermal paste & XPG compression thermal gel (for memory on processor) from the system board and heat sink (as shown in the video).
Install
Heatsink
Identify the heat sink location highlighted in blue.
Apply a pea sized amount of thermal material & XPG compression thermal gel (for memory on processor) as shown. Replace thermal pads if needed.
Align and install the heat sink into its slot on the system board.
Tighten the captive screws to secure the heat sink to the system board.Tighten in order. Do not over tighten.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to its connector on the system board.
Slide the hook under the system board and install the bracket to the system board.
Tighten the screw that secures the battery connector bracket to the palm rest assembly.
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Align the base cover and press the edges of the cover until it clicks into place.
Using a Torx #5, install the screws that secure the base cover to the system.
