Removal
Side Cover
Identify the side cover highlighted in blue.
Loosen the thumb screw that secures the side cover to the system.
Slide and lift the side cover off the system.
I/O module
Identify the I/O module highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the I/O module to the system.
Disconnect the I/O module cable from its connector on the system board.
Slide and lift the I/O module from the system.
Coin cell Battery
Identify the coin cell battery highlighted in blue.
Push the release lever on socket to release the coin cell battery.
Lift the coin cell battery from the socket.
Speaker
Identify the speaker highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the speaker cable from the system board.
Unroute the speaker cable from the routing guide on the fan assembly.
Press the release tab and lift the speaker along with the cable from the system.
Hard Drive Assembly 2.5 inch
Identify the hard drive assembly highlighted in blue.
Press the release tabs on the hard drive assembly and slide it towards the front of the system.
Lift the hard drive assembly from the system.
Solid State Drive (SSD)
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the SSD to the system board.
Slide and lift the SSD from the system board.
Wireless Module (WLAN)
Identify the wireless module (WLAN) highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the bracket to the system board.
Slide and lift the bracket from the WLAN card.
Disconnect the antenna cables from the WLAN card.
Slide and lift the WLAN card from its connector on the system board.
Fan Assembly
Identify the fan assembly highlighted in blue.
Press the blue tabs on both sides of the fan assembly.
Slide and lift the fan assembly from the system and flip over the fan assembly to access the fan cable.
Disconnect the fan cable from the system board.
Lift the fan assembly off the system.
Memory Module
Identify the memory module highlighted in blue.
Using your fingertips, carefully spread apart the securing clips on each end until the memory module pops up.
Slide and lift the memory module from the system board.
Heat Sink
Identify the heat sink highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the heat sink to the system board. Loosen in reverse order.
Lift the heat sink off the system board.
Use the alcohol pad to clean the heat sink (as shown in the video).
Processor
Identify the processor highlighted in blue.
Press down and push the release lever away from the processor to release it from the securing tab.
Extend the release lever completely and open the processor cover.
Gently lift the processor from the socket.
System Board
Identify the system board highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secure the hard drive caddy support to the system board.
Lift the hard drive caddy support away from the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the system board to the system.
Remove the screws that secure the system board to the system.
Lift at an angle and slide the system board from the system.
Install
System Board
Identify the system board location highlighted in blue.
Slide the system board align the connector with the slot on chassis and lower the system board at an angle.
Install the screws that secure the system board to the system.
Install the screws that secure the system board to the system.
Place the hard drive caddy support on the system board and align with the screw holes.
Install the screw that secure the hard drive caddy support to the system board.
Processor
Identify the processor location highlighted in blue.
Ensure that the release lever on the processor socket is fully extended in the open position.
Ensure that the pin 1 indicator on the processor socket and the CPU are aligned.
Align the notches on the processor with the tabs on the socket and place it on the socket.
Once the processor is in place, lower the release lever and secure it under the tab on the processor cover.
Heat Sink
Identify the heat sink location highlighted in blue.
Apply a pea sized amount of thermal material as shown.
Install the heat sink on the system board and align with screw holes.
Tighten the captive screws that secure the heat sink to the system board. Tighten in order. Do not over tighten.
Memory Module
Identify the memory module location highlighted in blue.
Align the notch on the memory module with the tab on the slot and slide the memory into the slot at an angle.
Press the memory module down until it clicks into place.
Fan Assembly
Identify the fan assembly location highlighted in blue.
Align and place the fan assembly near to the system.
Connect the fan cable to its connector on the system board.
Flip over the fan assembly.
Press the release tab, place and slide the fan assembly into the slot on the system and release the tabs.
Wireless Module (WLAN)
Identify the wireless module (WLAN) location highlighted in blue.
Slide and install the WLAN card to its connector on the system board.
Connect the black cable to the auxiliary (black triangle).
Connect the white cable to the main (white triangle).
Place and slide the bracket on the WLAN card.
Install the screw that secures the bracket to the system board.
Solid State Drive (SSD)
Hard Drive Assembly 2.5 inch
Identify the hard drive assembly location highlighted in blue.
Place the hard drive assembly into the slot on the system.
Slide the hard drive assembly towards the connector on the system board until the release tabs click into place.
Speaker
Identify the speaker location highlighted in blue.
Align and install the speaker into the slot and press it until the release tab clicks.
Route the speaker cable through the routing guides on the fan assembly.
Connect the speaker cable to its connector on the system board.
Coin cell Battery
Identify the coin cell battery location highlighted in blue.
Insert the coin cell battery into the socket with the positive side (+) label facing up.
Snap the battery into place.
I/O module
Identify the I/O module location highlighted in blue.
Slide and install the I/O module into the slot on the system.
Connect the I/O module cable to its connector on the system board.
Install the screws that secure the I/O module to the system.
Side Cover
Identify the side cover location highlighted in blue.
Place and slide the side cover towards the back of the system.
Tighten the thumb screw that secure the side cover to the system.
