Removing The Video-Card Heat Sink

Steps

  1. Follow the procedures in Before Working Inside Your Computer.
  2. Remove the:
    1. battery
    2. base cover
    3. keyboard trim
    4. keyboard
    5. optical drive
    6. hard drive
    7. palm rest
    8. heat-sink fan
    9. heatsink
  3. Disconnect and un-route any antenna cables connected to the installed wireless cards.

  4. Remove the antenna cables from the routing channels.

  5. Perform the following steps as shown in the illustration:
    1. Loosen the captive screws that secure the video-card heat sink to the computer. [1, 2, 3, 4]
    2. Lift up and remove the video-card heat sink from the computer.
