AW2518HF, horizontal lines, #2

So, I bought the Alienware AW2518HF 25" gaming monitor in May of this year, and more specifically May 29, 2019. At first, there was no problems with the panel at all, except for a scratch that existed in the back chassis of the AW2518HF. Though, in the last couple months I've noticed weird lines showing up in all of the screen when I was gaming. Especially, this last couple days, the three lines on the top started to be progressively more and more defined. I personally haven't heard of such a thing happening to someone else, so I really don't know what to do and how to act. Please, if you know anything about this line/grid-like problem, inform me. I've visited Dells website, and I found about their pixel policy and premium panel guarantee, that covers my Alienware monitor. Though, they don't mention specific time periods, in which they will replace the panel with a new one. I read that after 30 days of the purchase, they will replace the monitor with a refurbished one (a used one), and that really confused me. Please, if you know anything and can help me with this specific situation, share your knowledge with me and/or us. Thanks in advance!

Any monitor exchange done after the first 30 days from the Dell invoice date will result in a used/refurbished exchange.

The single horizontal line on the wrong side of the screen?  I have that too.  Restart the computer, restart the graphics driver, or turn off gsync.  My thread:  https://www.dell.com/community/Alienware-Desktops/Aurora-R7-S2716DGR-gsync-line-pixels-on-wrong-side-of-monitor/m-p/7530955#M24100

Im having the exact same issue... When im getting this problem I have to change resolution and then change the Hz back to 240 and then it works until i either restart the computer or even starting up for exempel csgo.

All my drivers are updated.

Just saw u guys have the HF and I have the AW2518H but its still the same issue.

Hey,

I'm not sure if you're all still experiencing this or have found a fix yourselves, but with my AW2518HF I've managed to figure something that works.

Try heading into "Advanced display setting" > "Display adapter properties for Display X"
Click the "List All Modes" button and here's where you will need to play around and see what is most stable for your setup.

I switch to 1920 by 1080, True Color (32bit), 144 Hertz. Lines gone, solid colours.
It seems like something wasn't cutting it for the full 240Hz capabilities.

Yeah, or you can also disable gsync.  But I think the point of the thread is a lot of people want to find a way to use their monitors to their full capabilities.

I completely agree.

Am I correct to have narrowed it down to the capabilities of my gpu (msi gtx 1070ti) and not the monitor. Considering that the lines disappear when reducing the refresh rate or turning off g-sync/free-sync reduced the load on it.

Has anyone with a 20 series Nvidia card had this issue? (we probably won't find out, because if it does work flawlessly, they won't find themselves here)

It's most certainly not caused by your gpu. Seeing as this was my first assumption, I too entertained the thought, and was proven to be wrong by something as simple as disconnecting the monitor from the pc. You can take a step further -not really- and use the built-in diagnostic's tool, you can see how to do that in the post's above -Dell Chris M, provided the information on how to access it. Also, if you read my previous replies, it would have been fairly obvious that monitor is to blame. I even mentioned, that decreasing the refresh rate of the monitor from 240Hz lowers the severity of the issue. Lastly, I still haven't found any possible fix, that doesn't include lowering the monitors refresh rate. It seems that whaever causes our problem is hardware related, meaning that something is quite possibly damaged, and that would be why it isn't affected by our software troubleshooting attempts.
