I believe you can prebuild with the 960 EVO, but I purchased separately. I only had a 1 TB HDD drive before I got the 960. I have the 960 EVO 500 Gb as well.
Unfortunately I'm still getting the boot error. The drive isn't showing up in the RST drive list either. It is showing up in the device manager, but I still am unable to format.

Does evo 960 prebuild with the system? or you separately bought it. Could you also specify the original size and model of your SSD in alienware r7?

AHCI NVME MSATA ETC Advanced Format Drives REQUIRE F6 mass storage drivers to SEE a drive to format or mount or install.
IRRT, AHCI, RAID AHCI, RAID ATA are some of the many SATA OPERATION MODES.

F6 and RAID BIOS configurations need to be performed prior to installation of this driver for proper operation.
This driver supports NVMe devices.

The RST drivers were out of date on my system. I updated to the latest drivers and I will try to install the SSD again. Thank you!

The Boot Error is STOP 7B Inaccessable Boot Device.
windows 7 cannot remove or format a windows 10 partition.
You must boot with windows 10 PE and run diskpart and select and clean the drive.
You have to use Diskmgmt.msc and partition before formatting.
OR
admin cmd prompt
Use Diskpart
Select
partition
format
F6 PRE INSTALL Drivers are REQUIRED.
Not sure if you can see the image below.

Try setting BIOS to UEFI/AHCI.
