Area-51 R2, GTX 3070 compatibility?

Question

Hello, I have Area 51 R2 that's a little over three years old.  It came with a GTX 1070 and I added a second to it.  I'm wondering if the new GTX 3070 will work in it.  I would replace my addin 1070.  My  if that helps. Thanks, Johnny

One good way to check compatibility is to search for benchmark of this model.

3070 is in the same series as 3080.

while you were able to run two 1070 before, not sure running 3070 + 1070 would need a higher power rating psu such as 1500W.

For most use cases it would be better to remove both 1070s, since you can't run a 3070 and 1070 in SLI.  So in other words for gaming it would hurt (not benefit) you to run with both 1070 and 3070 installed concurrently.

Should be no problem at all. RTX3070 founder edition is 9.5" (242 mm). Your psu is at least 850W. Compared to 1070, 3070 is 1” shorter but more powerful. Recommended psu is 650W or greater.

It is a good idea not to include your service tag. Dell moderator may remove it.

I don't run my 1070s in SLI.   I am mainly concerning about fit and whether or not it will work with the motherboard and BIOS.  I will run my Predator gaming monitor off the 3070 and another superwide monitor off the 1070.
