What is the temperature of the GPU card if it is not a blower style card? Is the temp in the case much higher than before with a blower style card?

Hello.

The temperature is really good. On idle it stays on 30/35° while playing demanding games (BF V) it reaches around 70/80°.

I'm quite happy with this new card

I risked to buy a Asus rog strix rtx 2080ti oc and installed it in my alienware area 51 r5.

Man i can tell you it is awesome!

On full load the card does not go above 65° and fully overclocked to the max and full load 75°

It is a beast in 4k gaming, playing doom eternal easy with 120 and above fps in highest 4k settings!

The rtx card itself fits like a glove, this was a concerne for me.

And the temperatures are so freaking cool, verry cool.

I always tought that the triad chassis needed a blower style card, but that is not true anymore.

Really useful thread:-) I have an A51 R4 running a Intel Core i9-7900X @ 3.30GHz, it came with a Nvidia GTX 1080Ti that I recently overclocked.  The GPU is running at up to 80 degrees C which is generating a lot of heat within the chassis, to the extent my SSD showed a temp of 45 degrees C this week in the warmer weather!  Good to know I don't HAVE to go for a blower card if peoples are running cooler than my 1080Ti....  Peter

I want to get rid of the blower card too and I planned on getting the EVGA hybrid 2080ti for my A51 R5. But, now I'm concerned the fan that comes with it's liquid cooler might not work with the Alienware because..well...Dell. I know 3rd party case fans are a problem with Alienware and now I'm thinking that might apply to the liquid cooling fan in that GPU too. Such a pain not knowing what you can use with Alienware when all other gaming PC's work with whatever you want.

I don't know but I would have thought the fan in the EVGA hybrid 2080ti would be controlled by the GPU directly - maybe someone else has one or can confirm?  Peter

I've upgraded to an MSI RTX 2080 Ti Gaming Z Trio and apart from having to remove the GTX 1080 Ti support rail there was no drama:-)  Luckily my Area 51 R4 had the 1500W power supply so I had power cables to spare for the 2x 8-pin and 1x 6-pin supply to the card.

One thing to note and it might just be my Alienware Command Centre (ACC) install but...  As part of moving from the old "blower" card to a standard "fan" card I selected user control of fans in ACC and set a more aggressive cooling vs. temp curve to get the hot air out of the chassis.  As it turns out varying of the fan speed based on sensor temp created a REALLY bad stutter on my screen and audio.  See video: https://1drv.ms/v/s!AvccxZDEO9nLoPwI8Bd2RBsf3vFn-A?e=daeDMh  I only discovered this late today and it is weird!  I have now set user control with fixed fan speed and my stutter is gone:-)  As I applied/saved the fixed fan speed you could hear the screen audio "click" so I think it is the changing of the fan speed via the motherboard that had caused my dreadful screen/audio stutter!

Now I have this fixed time to seriously check out the performance improvement!

Hope this helps someone!  Peter
