Area-51 R5, PSU and SLI Upgrade options/requirements
Hi all,
I have an Area-51 R5 on the way that I will be looking to upgrade a bit. I want to upgrade the PSU from the 850 to the 1500 and I may possibly add a 2nd GPU. So here are my questions:
1st: I am looking at just going with the OEM 800GY 1500w PSU from Dell. I noticed the sellers on Ebay are only selling the PSU, no cables or anything else. I know I can slide the 850 out and slide the 1500 in it's place but will I need a different power cord or any other cords for it or will the power cord for the 850 work fine with the 1500?
2nd: I may add a 2nd GPU. If I buy the PSU only like it is currently being sold on Ebay, I assume I will need additional cables for hooking up the 2nd GPU. What cables will I need? Also, is there anything else I will need, SLI bridge or anything like that?
3rd: Where can I find out which 2080 Ti's would be compatible with the Dell OEM 2080 Ti that comes with my system
This will be my 1st Gaming desktop as I have previously owned 3 Alienware 18 laptops so all the upgrading and tinkering I will be doing is new to me. I appreciate any help I can get. Thanks everyone.

1.- Use the OEM 800GY 1500w PSU from Dell, you can use the same cables.
2.- You just need SLI bridge, all the cables for the 2 GPU are included in the R5.
3.- Delll uses MSI GPU, have a look on the web page of MSI for the model.

Thanks. Bought an 800GY off of ebay used and with all.cables. Any specific SLI Bridge? As far as the GPU goes, I guess I just have to look for the MSI blower GPU on their site. Thanks for the response.

Thanks for responding. I bought an 800GY that came with all the cables and the power cord off ebay. It was used but supposedly pulled from a relatively new R4 or R5. It seems to be in perfect condition, no signs of use at all and has all the cables and power cord. I'm scared to hook it up because it's a used PSU but you can't get buy them new anymore so hopefully it's OK. I did see a couple other ones that say they are open box new so I might buy 1 of them and use the cord from this one. I don't know what to do.
Is there a way to buy that specific power cord by itself it I had to?
