Aurora 10, wrong memory installed
Hello,
I've had Aurora 10 for almost 2 weeks now. Curious to verify the components installed are what I ordered I ran HWInfo64 and was surprised by the results. Apparently, what's installed is DDR4-2400, not the 2666 I ordered. It's strange because this wasn't even a choice offered during system configuration. How did the wrong components make it into the assembly line? I just sent an email to Support to see what can be done about getting what I ordered. I'll update everyone with what happens.

Sure no problem. Good luck.

Try enabling XMP and then selecting oc level 1. If that doesn't change it, select oc level 2. The retail hyperx downclocks frequency and improves timing at oc level 2, not sure if that's the same for oem hyperx fury.

Yeah, so for example, I have the 2933 hyper X fury, and it lets me run it at either 2933 or 2666. For XMP 2666 the basic options should be 2666 or 2400. Like shown here, it lets me select between the available profiles to change the speed: https://www.kingston.com/dataSheets/HX429C17FB2K2_16.pdf
There may be a similar option for you with 2666 vs 2400. It's F2 on startup to select the options.

Yeah, it's double data rate (DDR), so 2 x 1200 = 2400. You can double check it by typing "task manager" into the bottom left of your screen, under the performance tab of the box that pops up, it will tell you the effective speed of your memory.

Thanks for the suggestion and I'll try that. HWInfo64 states that the type of memory is DDR4-2400, running at clock of 1200.

Yep, that's what I see in Task Manager. It's 2400, not 2666, which is what I ordered.

One more Question r72019. If you change the options in AWCC on the advance tab Ram1- xpm profile 1 , is it automatic? do I have to do anything in the bios? Why not run it all the way @ 2933mHz.
Thx !

After you change it, you need to restart your computer for the changes to take effect. Next time you open up awcc it should show the new settings. I put mine at 2933.
