Aurora R10, 5900x no CPU frequency, no Temp in FUSION, no overclocking possible

Hi,

I have an Alienware AURORA R10 with RTX 3080 and 32 GB ram.

I found the Alienware Command Center always horrible to work with, but now things are really odd:

Since I updated to the latest  BIOS, v 2.2.1, this is shown in FUSION:

fusion.jpg

If I try to set an overclock profile, I get the message to disable overclocking in the bios.

Options to disable overclocking in the bios are greyed out (in the bios).

When I reset to bios defaults, I can set the overclocking to disabled in the bios.

I then can set a overclocking profile with Alienware Command Center, and after a required reboot I again get the message to disable overclocking in the bios.

Reinstalled Alienware Command Center (a few times now) as well as the OC controls thingie.

Reflashed to bios.

No change.

Help? Thanks

There's currently a firmware bug that causes these issues.

There's currently no solution, because firmware down grades are not supported once you are on bios 2.2.1.

I would suggest to periodically check the Dell drivers download page for any new firmware update that might address this known issue: Dell Drivers Page

I can also add to that that the issue with the CPU frequency is not related to the bios, as it is showing the same for me, and I am on bios version 2.1.3.

Hello Vanadiel! We have reviewed your case and the current situation with the Alienware Command Center. This issue is currently being reviewed by the BIOS engineering in order to provide a resolution. It may take some time for them to release a solution, but as soon as we have an update from them, we will inform you.
Shall you have any additional concerns, please let me know and I will be glad to help.

Ok.

So,

"There's currently a firmware bug that causes these issues"

And in a PM:

"the AMD software, Dominator, was quite outdated reason why it is no longer compatible with the latest changes made on your model, at least for now. This is the reason why our software, Alienware Command Center, currently can not detect the CPU activity"

Is there a way to control the PC without using the bugged Dell software??

Probably would still need the ACC to dim the lights or maybe the fan profiles...

Ryzen master works, but it needs to be applied between reboots as it cannot automatically apply profiles.

In my opinion it is way better than AWCC as it has much more options for OC control.

You can see if Ryzen Master works

Well, The PC broke down and I had it serviced, new motherboard, new PSU, new Processor even.

Motherboard came with 2.1.3 bios

First start, Windows updated to version 2.2.1 bios.

Second start, Alienware updated to 2.2.2 bios. (Device manager still reports 2.2.1)

Guess what? CPU frequencies are visible in AWCC, overclocking can be set with AWCC.

Did not check motherboard revisions.

Good to know it's sorted on the most recent bios release.

There appears to be a lot of variability in which BIOS versions cause what, if any, problems with these systems. I've been seeing a lot of people with different symptoms, ranging from AWCC and overclocking to outright inability to boot beyond the BIOS.
I can find no one single factor that would explain it.

Please note that my previous motherboard had bios 2.2.2 and it didn't show cpu frequency in AWCC !!

My simple conclusion is that there is a difference in the motherboards. (or there may be something odd happening with bios updates, sequence or whatever)

I don't now my previous revision of the motherboard, I could check mine now of course and compare it with the motherboard revision of people who still have this problem....

Also, with this motherboard, AWCC is responding much faster, long load times are gone....
