Aurora R10, BIOS update will not install

I have been trying to update my BIOS since January when the new update came out. I was previously trying to update through the Alienware Update program, and the very first time while I didn't touch anything, it never worked. It just froze everything and I ended up having to factory reset. I tried updating again, and it just never fully updates. It just seems to get "stuck" at one point. I have tried installing the update directly from Dell and I get to 91% and then it just gets "stuck" and doesnt move anymore after that. I've given it 45 minutes with no change. What do I do?

DELL-Cares will need the private service tag. So provide it to them via their private message.

Perhaps there is an external device hindering the update. List for us everything plugged into the Aurora R10 rear and front ports. Examples =
wired USB mouse
wired USB keyboard
monitor
RJ45 ethernet cable

What BIOS version is currently installed?

Are you trying to correct a specific issue by installing a BIOS update?

Can you open up a command prompt under windows 10, and type in:

wmic bios get smbiosbiosversion

It should list the bios version you currently have installed.

ff you are trying to update the Dell Bios via the Support Assistant application from Dell, there is a longstanding bug in that program that can freeze up machines so they don't complete the Bios update....so the same thing you are having on your machine.   For some reason Dell has not corrected this problem with their own internal update software program and you will see lots of posts on this problem if you search on here.   The solution is to download the Dell Bios update directly from the Dell Support website via a web browser and install from there.

1.  Go to dell support website.  Dell.com and then click on Support at the top.

2.  The support website should recognize your machine (if not, you can log in using your service tag which is on a sticker on the back of the machine)

3.  Look for the Bios update and download it, and then run it directly from there.   It should run and complete without problem.    If that doesn't work, you can contact support for further troubleshooting and/or try to "clear CMOS" and then re-boot and try again, but that approach is a bit more involved as you open the case and remove a coin cell battery, clear flea power, and then re-boot and re-download the Bios update so don't do that unless the above steps are not working
