Aurora R10, RAM MHz won't change with new RAM

Hey everyone, looking for a little assistance since I am new to PC's.

I have a Alienware Aurora R10 Dark side of the moon addition Ryzen addition w/ a AMD Ryzen 7 5800x 8-core processor, 3.8 GHz. The pc's ram was (2) HyperX Fury 16GB 2666Mhz.

I have been having a lot of FPS issues to start with and pretty much not able to play if I try to stream so I replaced those 2 and added an additional 2 sticks of ram which all are Corsair Vengeance rgb PRO DDR4 16GB 3200MHz. So, the issue I am having is I can't get my MHz above 2133MHz. I have tried overclocking in AWCC and if I select OC profile 2 it shows the DRAM Frequency of 2134MHz and under advanced the Ram1 is selected which shows 3200MHz but if I check under the Task manager and bios it's only the 2133MHz. I tried turning off the overclock in the AWCC and setting the MHz manually in the BIOS but the highest it would let me select was 3000MHz so i tried that and when I saved it and tried to reboot the pc would not show any display and just had the fans running at 100% with all the lights on and the Alienware head light on the face flashing so pulled the little circle battery and reset everything so it is back to normal now. sorry for the long message just wanted to try and detail everything that I could. With all that being said does anyone have any idea as to what I could do to get the complete 3200MHz frequency out of all this ram I installed? I checked updates on dell.com/support, and everything is up to date as far as drivers and BIOS goes. ANY help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

So just so you know, you can't just throw whatever ram you want in these systems and expect it to work. Only certain kits are validated and only the OEM fury are 100% going to work. And with that Ryzen works with different ram MHz different than Intel and you should really only use Ryzen validated kits

Yeah, Alienware systems don't seem to friendly with things that you didn't get from them.

Re: replaced those (2) HyperX Fury 16GB 2666Mhz and added an additional 2 sticks of ram which all are Corsair Vengeance rgb PRO DDR4 16GB 3200MHz

Did you buy the (2) hyper X fury 16 gb yourself as upgrade of Dell ram?  Dell stock ram spec for R10 is 3200 MHz.

have you run a user benchmark to compare your gpu performance w others to see where yours stand?

Do you currently have two new (2) HyperX Fury 16GB 2666Mhz plus two Corsair Vengeance 3200?  You really do not need more than 16 gb total memory for gaming.  If you have 64 gb now it does not help you gaming performance at all.  like it was already said mixing ram of different spec and maker is not great idea.

user validated Corsair vengeance 3200 2x16 Gb without mixing w other ram in R10 is:

Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200 C16 2x16GB
2 of 4 slots used
32GB DIMM DDR4 clocked @ 3200 MHz

No the (2) fury 16gb 2666MHz is what the pc came with. I replaced those (2) with 2 of the vengeance then added a additional (2) to have a total of 4 stick of ram which are all identical. The Corsair vengeance ram I purchased stated it was xmp compatible, I did a bit of research before buying and it seemed quite a bit of people used that certain ram without issue and everything worked according upon boot up. The ram works it shows the 64gb and I didn’t receive any error messages when booting up I just Can’t figure out how to get it to run at the correct speed.
I’ll screen shot the things I am referring to in the awcc/bios & task manager I am referring to this evening when I get home from work. I am not sure how to run the benchmark test, I will try to figure out that as well.

I thought the ram I purchased was correct, I had found a list on this forum with the different rams that was acceptable and found where other people used the certain ram I purchased without any issue. Like I just said in my other response, the ram is working fine and it booted right up without any issue, I just can’t figure out how to get it to run at the correct MHz. All the videos I had seen online etc when they booted up and checked bios it was the listed 3200MHz.

"No the (2) fury 16gb 2666MHz is what the pc came with."

IIRC, the lowest advertised memory speeds advertised for the R10 is 2933Mhz, followed by 3200Mhz and 3466Mhz. Have you tried setting the overclocking in the BIOS to AUTO and then trying the different XMP profiles in the BIOS?

I am somewhat confused. Do you have a total of 4 x 16 GB Vengeance, all the same model # installed? Do you know the exact part # for the memory you have installed?

This shows 64gb xmp @ 3200MHz which the ones I purchased is, the box they came in even says xmp compatible. If the ones I purchased and installed weren’t compatible wouldn't i get a error message upon boot and the pc wouldn’t turn on? After I installed them the pc booted up immediately with no issue and all 64gb of ram are recognized, I even installed the Corsair driver where I can monitor the temp of each one and the coloring etc. just can’t figure out how to get them to run at the listed speed of 3200MHz. Even on the Corsair app it shows the DRAM to be around 1xxx. Can’t remember the exact number but it correlates to the MHz shown in the bios/task manager & awcc.

You said you picked it based on a thread on the board, but I could not find anything for CMW32GX4M2E3200C16 compatibility.

Do you remember the thread that referred to CMW32GX4M2E3200C16?

The kit you purchased is CMW32GX4M2E3200C16

There are many variants that run at 3,200 Mhz, but these machines are very picky and will only work properly with specific models of RAM, not just any 3,200 Mhz kit.

I will reinstall the (2) fury ram sticks this evening and bring up the information they show but I know for a fact they were 2666MHz and verified it because that’s why I went with 3200MHz with the new ram. I purchased the pc brand new from a micro center, maybe when Dell built the pc someone installed the wrong ram?

the bios offers enable/disable for overclocking then Under xmp it offers manual, auto, oc1 & oc2. I tried auto, oc1 & oc2  but the shown MHz never went over 2133MHz. When I tried manual and set the MHz to 3000 which was the highest shown the pc would not boot, it just turned on and had the fans running at 100% but would never display anything so then did mobo battery reset.  I also tried overclocking in the awcc, under profile 2 I could select ram1 which showed 3200mhz but under active it wouldn’t go above the 2133mz.

Ok I guess I misunderstood that then when researching. I thought as long as it was the shown specs in that list I just posted it would work.

I spoke to support on this site in the chat and gave them my service tag # etc and the employee stated my computer came with 32GB Dual Channel DDR4 XMP at 3400MHz.  I am going to reinstall the (2) HyperX Fury ram sticks this evening so they can troubleshoot and see why they were showing to be 2666Mhz when I checked them. I’m guessing that could possibly be the reason my game play has been so bad since I purchased the computer if the wrong ram was installed from start. When I say bad game play I mean barely over 100fps with it constantly dropping to the 40s & 50s while getting bad rendering and screen tearing/ lag etc, I tried so many different settings in game and Nvidia control panel and so on with no change then once I installed the new ram my frames went to 150-200 and no longer have those issues. I’ve just been trying to figure out how to get the new ram to run at the adversities MHz with this post but come to find out I might have had the wrong ram in the pc since I purchased it and thats why I have been having so many issues so actually never needed to even purchase the new ram. Thank you for your help, whenever I get support to research the ram I will get back to you!

I have been extremely frustrated by seemingly the exact same issue with my R10. Did you ever figure out a solution?
