Dell support visited my home today and replaced the 3080. Approx 2 weeks from ticket to solution. I am very impressed with Dell and will continue to purchase from them. Very relieved.
I can confirm I’m facing the same issue. Recently bought a AMD edition R10 with 5600x liquid cooling and a 3080.
Card crashes within a few minutes of me starting any game. I’ve tried Control and Cyberpunk.
Dell tech ran diagnostics for 2 hours and it failed every time during video stress tests. He ordered a replacement 3080 for me. Screen went black and I had to resboot my PC every time.
These custom Dell 3080s are defective. I can’t believe I spent $2500 on a glorified chrome book.
Yes it is dissapointing that your card failed, I understand your frustration. However, Dell support did visit my home and replace the card within two weeks. Imagine if you bought the system from another vendor? Would you get such support? Or, would you have to send the GPU back by mail?
Dell has sold thousands of R11's , of course a few will be lemons, but at least they stand by their service agreement - for that I'm happy I purchased from Dell.
I have the same problem with the same PC i play 3 Call of Duty games and it gives me artifacts colores and i restards i call customer service and the supposed to send a technician to change motherboard and GPU (3080) but i'm still waiting after 2 weeks
Did you receive emails stating that your part was on order? And if so, did it give an estimated date? If not, you should contact support again and state you never received confirmation of part ordering etc...
Liquid-cooled i9-11900KF, RTX 3080. Arrived today, and the RTX is definitely defective. No games will run for longer than 3 minutes before a loss of signal. Have to hard reset.
Does the video card pass the Dell video stress test? If not then it is definitely the card and it will be replaced. The bad news it is faulty now but the good news is when I got my replacement everything is running absolutely fantastic no issues whatsoever.
Same issue. I took several days to troubleshoot by myself but failed. Re-set the whole system and re-install all software. Such a waste of time. The tech offered me the 3080 replacement. But still, it's a very unpleasant purchase after spending 3000 dollars. I cannot stop thinking about asking for a machine exchange...and I will do it tomorrow.
Hi Jiazzzi ... sorry to hear you are dealing with this. Did you ever get a ticket # that states you are due for a replacement? When I called support and they remoted my PC and saw that it failed the GPU stress test, I received an email shortly after stating I was scheduled for a replacement. You should get the same, if not, call back and demand a ticket number stating replacment date.
My 30-day warranty will pass this week. I gave calls to the Returns team and they told me that I needed to wait another month and more to receive a new machine. They said they could give me compensation but need me to talk with the higher-level management. My phone was transferred to the technician department who told me he couldn't make the decision for compensation. I am so confused. Whom am I supposed to contact with? I gave Dell at least 6 calls, live chat with experts, wrote a forum here, and I was just kicked from here to there and no one can solve the problem. I waited on the phone for a total of one hour...It's bad for having a defective computer which brought me so much stress for troubleshooting. Customer services are worse.... I have to work during the day and take class at night. The customer services wasted a lot of time...I cannot believe I bought this $3,000 trouble as my 30-year-old birthday gift.
For anyone wondering, there is a problem with the cards.
It's not temps or the R12 itself. I installed the bad cards into another computer and same issues; screen starts flickering then goes black after any type of load. I've logged temps in GPU-Z and they are within spec.
I received my R12 system with RTX 3080 end of May. Worked fine at the start, problem started surfacing whereby I could game for a few hours, and finally died mid-July. Same symptoms as reported here - would crash under load but worked fine without load. Card was replaced by a tech. The 2nd card lasted 1.5 weeks before it exhibited the same symptoms. I just got my third replacement installed yesterday.
The replacements are now worth more than what the system cost initially. I'll need to look into extending the warranty since I am outside the return window.
I have a similar experience.. Got a R12 with a 3080, my first prebuild and also first highend pc. The first GPU started presenting fan noise in 40 days, after a week It was replaced. The second one died after 30 days, got it replaced again yesterday and the third one is not working under load, green screen/video loss when I start a game...
I have no complaints regarding the support. They are responsive and uncomplicated, but the quality of the GPUs so far left much to be desired.. I hope I land a good one next.
Received my R10 system with RTX 3090 in March, worked fine for 4 months gaming under load, always monitoring temps and they were well within spec also. Got my first black screen crash on 5th August and card died immediately.
Tech replaced the card 2 weeks ago but today screen flickering followed by black screen crash has started again. Ran a GPU stress test but crashes about 10 seconds in. PC is unusable now as it consistently crashes at the desktop screen.
I'm also outside the return window so will need to extend the warranty, regret buying this PC now.

Can confirm it was a GPU hardware issue. Dell replaced the GPU within 5 days of me ordering a service request.
The new GPU passed the video stress tests 2 times. Will confirm it works fine after gaming a little.
Kudos to the fast turn around time!

There's something wrong with these 3080 cards.

Failed all tests. Won't even run properly underclocked. I just wonder, how did this pass QA?
