Aurora R10, Resizable Bar support Bios version 2.1.3

Just updated my R10 to the latest bios, version 2.1.3, available at R10 Bios version 2.1.3

As per bios release notes on that page it is supposed to enable resizable BAR support.

Fixes & Enhancements

Fixes:
- Fixed the issue where WHEA errors are reported in the Windows event log. This issue occurs on systems with AMD Ryzen 9 5950X or 5900X processor and XMP memory frequency 3466 MHz.

Enhancements:
- Supports Smart Access Memory and PCIe Resizable Bar features to enhance the graphics performance.

Another user has reported that feature is now available under "advanced" bios settings. I checked mine, there's nothing there. How do I enable the new bios feature? I already loaded the optimized setups, with no luck.

The option for resizable bar does not show up in my bios, but it did for the other user as reported in this thread:

The bios setting should show up regardless. It's actually nothing new and is available on many older systems, like my B450 with a Ryzen 2600X and a GTX 1070.

It's been part of the PCIe spec for years.

Vbios also needs to be updated to support it. Haven't seen any vbios updates for my Dell 3090 yet. Maybe the other user had an aftermarket GPU? Or maybe Dell is rolling out the vbios update to select cards.

Still waiting for the gear 2 RAM fix and the REBAR update for my R12... Not holding my breath.

Oh I thought the other user wasn't able to enable the resizeable bar feature b/c the GPU didn't support it yet.

Same bios version yes, same AGESA version no.

I bet he has the "new" R10. It's a long story, but also a sad story.

Maybe the other user has the R10 v2.

You already know I know...

All of this because it would open up Ryzen 5000 support with the new AGESA version.

Remember we had this conversation a few days ago about that specific result, and you thought they maybe could disable the microcode for Ryzen 5000 while still providing Resizable BAR support?

I guess you have your answer...

Oh, so it's supposed to show up in the bios even if your card doesn't support it? I dunno... That user's claim seems suspect if you have the same bios version and the option doesn't even appear.

Yeah this is what he had said: "The R10 latest bios 2.1.3 added resizable bar option, now we just have to wait for a Vbios release for GPU."

Oh yeah, I just saw your other post.  I'll refrain from commenting about that until you get your answer from Dell.  Don't want to be the bearer of bad news.

I have the v2 Ryzen and can confirm the re sizable bar option is in the bios, but no settings in the amd software to enable it just yet.

You guys have the Ryzen 5000 R10. You run a different AGESA version, hence the reason why it shows up for your guys but not for me. I run the Ryzen 3000 R10 and that one has been stuck for ages on AGESA version 1.0.0.6, a very outdated version.

@speedstep  Where do you get this information from? I have gotten no such information from DELL support or from DELL anybody. They have actually been very silent on this issue since I asked them for assistance yesterday.

I understand what you are saying about the flash rom space limitation, and on my B450 they had to remove the nice click bios to make space for the extra micro code.

But I gladly trade that in for Ryzen 1000, 2000, 3000, 5000 and resizable bar support all in one board.

The bios on the Pegatron board is about as basic as it goes, and you can see when you flash one of these that a lot of the flashing process goes really fast, indicating there's plenty of empty space available on the flash rom. It looks to me only a small portion of the bios is actually being reprogrammed and the rest left untouched.

ASUS divorced partner Pegatron

"In January 2008, Asus began a major restructuring of its operations, splitting into three independent companies: Asus (focused on applied first-party branded computers and electronics); Pegatron (focused on OEM manufacturing of motherboards and components); and Unihan Corporation (focused on non-PC manufacturing such as cases and molding).

Pegatron was ASUS no-more by June 2010

There is a bios space issue. So its not as easy as those who say it just needs an update.

Optional OEM BIOS updates will disable support for many existing AMD Ryzen Desktop Processor models to make the necessary ROM space available.

BIOSes will enable a one-way upgrade path for AMD Ryzen “Zen 3,”. Flashing back to an older BIOS version will not be supported.

To reduce the potential for confusion, our intent is to only allow BIOS download to verified customers with motherboards who have purchased a new desktop processor with “Zen 3” inside. This will help us ensure that customers have a boot able processor on-hand after the BIOS flash, minimizing the risk a user could get caught in a no-boot situation.
