Aurora R10, memory upgrade
Hi, I have ordered a R10 with the 3700x, RTX 2070 super and 16GB of RAM. If I remember correctly it’s the hyperX fury 2666Mhz.
Since I’ll be doing video editing I wanted to get the 32GB 3200Mhz but the cost of doing so on the Dell website was significantly more than ordering the same RAM on Amazon...
I would like to order the RAM and I’m wondering if any 2X16GB 3200Mhx XMP kit work? Orb do you have recommendations for this Ryzen system? I found a couple of list for the other R systems but not specific to this motherboard so I would assume what is recommended/tested would be different.
And if that matters in your answer I actually don’t do much gaming at the moment but mainly video editing. I’m thinking 32GB would be enough for now but might consider getting another 32GB of the same memory later if needed. I had a look at the manual and it seems 4x16GB XMP would work.

Hello!
Waiting on my r10 to arrive, and wanted to get another stick of 16gb 3200 ram. Any idea on how much theirs is priced?
If anything, I got the refreshed one with the 5800x.
Thanks!

Update: too much for those wondering. Going to go with aftermarket sticks when I can. Seems like I'll be going with Crucial when I do.

These ones are working with no issues, reported by multiple users.

I ordered Crucial, BL2K8G32C16U4R, red. To replace my HyperX 2 x 8 GB 20-20-20 memory sticks.
Once I have them I am going to post about my experience with the process, and provide some benchmarks between before and after.
I am thinking the CPU performance is going to see an uptick in the 5-10 % range, resulting in an uptick in 3D benchmarks.
We will see how much difference it really makes.
It was only $115 CAD with taxes, so that's perfectly affordable and in my opinion is what this machine should have come with.

I would suggest, buy everything as a kit. I have a similar situation as you, I just got a 32GB from the initial setup here a Dell, thinking will add another batch outside of Dell. I got a 32GB 2933mhz. I got a HyperX outside of Dell but it’s 3000mhz. The 2933mhz when not run in XMP turns out to be 2400mhz. So Now I have 64GB at 2400mhz for it not to have RAM errors on boot. Also the Dell HyperX Ram looks different from other HyperX ram. It has bigger heat spreaders.

I was curious is this memory was tried at 3200mhz? I would really like to find some cl 14 or 15 3200mhz memory that will be completely stable with 64gb.

Can confirm that Crucial, BL2K8G32C16U4R, red, works on R10 "pre Ryzen 5000" under bios 2.1.1.
No issues on a reboot, or a power down and restart.

Hi, just bought exactly like you. Did you have to change BIOS to OC2 or you left it as OC1? Thank you!

Yes definitely OC1. I had problems booting with OC2. BTW I’ve upgraded to each new version of BIOS as they’ve been available and have never had to change the settings from OC1. The new BIOS might allow different settings to work but the Corsair AMD memory has been so rock stable at 3200 I haven’t felt any need to experiment more.

Actually, when I changed the memory and went into the bios the memory overclocking profiles were greyed out and I could not change them. This is what I did to fix it:
- Load optimized bios defaults. (So the greyed out settings are not greyed out anymore).
- Select OC1 profile.
- Click "save and reboot".
After that windows loads normally, but it will pop up a notification about overclocking being disabled because of the bios settings. I just ignored it, it only popped up once. I think what it is trying to say is that bios changes have been detected so it turned off any custom settings AWCC might be trying to load because it could result in a loop of endless crashes if you keep applying the wrong settings.

Is it ok to set to OC1 first and boot with the current memory, then put the new memory in and leave it as is at OC1? I was thinking to avoid issues, to have it set to OC1 before I physically change to the new DIMMs.

Best practice is to buy a matched set for the full amount of RAM you want, as opposed to two different matched sets each for half the RAM you want. Since you bought them at the same time it will probably be fine. But keep in mind that even with in the exact same item number manufacturer's post different revisions through the product lifecycle which could result in improved timings (on later revisions) and preclude application of XMP profiles for example or just result in small incompatibilities (e.g., freezing, BSOD, etc.). If you contact Kingston or whichever RAM brand you bought and provide your serial numbers they will tell you if it is an identical set. If you experience any issues you might have to RMA and get a matched set. The Aurora is notoriously picky with RAM, that's the other thing to keep in mind.

Cool, I took your advice and bought 2 kits of 16GB (BL2K8G32C16U4R)
As the Aurora Ryzen R10 does not support quadchannel, 2 dual channel kits will be perfect. So it will be an upgrade for me from 16GB single channel, to 32GB dual channel (8GB X 4).

Been running Crucial, BL2K8G32C16U4R, red, on R10 "pre Ryzen 5000" under bios 2.1.1 for about 1.5 weeks.
I shut my computer down each day. No issues with memory settings, beeps or boots.
Everything works identical to the original HyperX memory it came with. I do have tighter memory settings. The HyperX was more like SlowX.

Still waiting for someone to test the G.Skill F4-3200C14Q-64GTZ or the 3600 version.
Once I get my system I want to get them but still have a month to wait before it even ships.
