Aurora R10, memory upgrade

Hi, I have ordered a R10 with the 3700x, RTX 2070 super and 16GB of RAM. If I remember correctly it’s the hyperX fury 2666Mhz.

Since I’ll be doing video editing I wanted to get the 32GB 3200Mhz but the cost of doing so on the Dell website  was significantly more than ordering the same RAM on Amazon...

I would like to order the RAM and I’m wondering if any 2X16GB 3200Mhx XMP kit work? Orb do you have recommendations for this Ryzen system? I found a couple of list for the other R systems but not specific to this motherboard so I would assume what is recommended/tested would be different.

And if that matters in your answer I actually don’t do much gaming at the moment but mainly video editing. I’m thinking 32GB would be enough for now but might consider getting another 32GB of the same memory later if needed. I had a look at the manual and it seems 4x16GB XMP would work.

My question was in reference to many users confirming that (CMH32GX4M2Z3200C16) works without issues . Just wondering        if CMW32GX4M2E3200C16 would work.   More of a best buy store credit situation.

That's not really a helpful list. Yes, we know the OEM overpriced RAM from Dell is supported. What people want to know is which non-OEM RAM has been found to work with the R10.  Has anyone been keeping a running list?  I know the one Crucial set seems to work.  I think someone should keep a running list of RAM that has been reported to work.  Would be much more helpful than trying to wade through 20 pages of this stuff.

True, but the only problem is there are 2 different motherboards for the R10 series, and a bios update could break ram compatibility.

Therefore recommending ram can be a slippery slope, because it might only work with 1 of the 2 R10 versions out there, or it might only work up to certain bios versions.

The only ram that is guaranteed to work is the validated ram. The rest is error and trial. The ones in this thread that are listed to work will likely continue to work in the future, but no guarantee. These systems are notorious for limited ram support.

@Jkerns0824 that corsair you linked to does not work properly. i tried it earlier this week (along with 2 other sets of corsair that did not work properly either lol). you can get it to run at 3200 with Ryzen Master, but the timings are bad and the voltage is only 1.2.

May 20th, 2021 07:00

@Vanadiel thx for the replies about the timings...the RAM I was trying did not work right. I knew it probably wouldnt cause I had been fiddling with it for 2 days lol. just wanted to try one last ditch effort. it was the same RAM that jkearns had linked to asking if it would work. Got the Crucial Ballistix a bunch of people have said works coming from Amazon today, so fingers crossed.

I'll probably end up going with crucial as well. I also tried corsair vengeance lpx.  Got it to work twice at 3466mhz but it reset with restart and of course caused issues with post.

Well you definitely saved me a potential headache.  Thank you.

I'm unfortunately facing the exact same situation as you.  Long story short the motherboard is apparently VERY VERY touchy when it comes to ram. You and I are not the only ones to have discovered this and unfortunately we won't be the last.

Are there dual rank 3400mhz options?

yah crucial safe because Samsung, Hynix, and Micron (Crucial), make all the memory that is sold anyways

And I forgot besides that the Crucial is hard to get to overclock so I'm not sure your options...
