Aurora R10, realistic shipping times

I recently ordered my R10 Ryzen edition PC from Dell and got an expected shipping date of 7/15. I'm seeing on this forum that many users are experiencing extreme delays in shipping while others have stated they received their PC in a relatively quick and expected timeframe. For those who had their R10's delivered, can you explain how long the process was, as well as how many delays, if any, you had to go through? I would also like to hear from those that have ordered the r10 in the last 1-2 months and still have not had it delivered yet.

My specs are:

-AMD Ryzen™ 9 3950X (16-Core, 64MB L3 Cache, Max Boost Clock of 4.7GHz)

-NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 2080 Ti 11GB GDDR6 (OC Ready)

-1TB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD (Boot) + 2TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s (Storage)

-32GB Dual Channel HyperX™ FURY DDR4 XMP at 3200MHz; up to 64GB (additional memory sold separately)

-Dark Side of the Moon chassis with High-Performance CPU Liquid Cooling and 1000W Power Supply

If you also could leave your specs in the comments for context it would be much appreciated. Thanks all!

I am also waiting for my R10. My expected delivery date is 7/13.

My specs:

AMD Ryzen 9 3900 (12-Core, 64MB L3 Cache, Max Boost Clock of 4.4GHz)

16GB Dual Channel HyperX(TM) FURY DDR4 XMP at 2666MHz

AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT 8GB GDDR6

Dark side of the moon chassis with High-Performance CPU Liquid Cooling and 550W Power Supply

512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD

Killer Wi-Fi 6 AX1650 (2x2) and Bluetooth 5.0

One thing I noticed - for some weird reason, Alienware does not offer any other option of power supply except 550W with the Radeon 5700XT. You can't choose 850W or 1000W. The website doesn't allow it. Phone support also said its not in their power to go against the website. I'm sure Alienware will install an efficient 550W PSU but in case I want to upgrade my hardware later, I might also need to upgrade my PSU. Bummer.

This is my 7th order with Dell, and I have always received the shipment within 5-10 days. It's clear that this is a by-product of the COVID world. Nevertheless, I still wish Dell was more transparent with the order status. I'm sure if they want, they can also show wether all the parts are in stock, and the current position in the assembly queue.

Hi,

I ordered mine on May 14th (same specs as yours, except for a 2TB SSD). It was initially supposed to arrive on June 16th; I got a notification email on June 13th that the new estimated delivery date was July 20th. After doing some searching on these forums, I sent a private message to @DELL-Cares, I didn't get a real response other than "we'll look into it" until today.  However, two days after sending my message I got a notification that mine had shipped, and I received it last Friday, June 26th.

I don't know if it was a complete coincidence that it shipped just after sending that message, but it's worth a shot if you experience a delay.  I basically said that I realize that there are unprecedented issues right now with parts delays etc., but that I was frustrated by the lack of any communication other than receiving a notice that it was delayed, especially on such a big purchase.

I'll also say that I've seen some people having a lot of issues with customer support; I've found them to be pretty helpful overall.

Hope this info helps. It's an amazing computer.

I am waiting for mine as well. My order date was June 8. My estimated arrival date was 7/10/20. After looking into this a LOT. I would say don't believe the Horror stories to much. I have 3 co-workers/friends who all bought these same rigs. (Just a month before us) they all got the same general 1 month-ish time frame. 1 of the 3 got on the exact date both of the others a week later.

Now regarding our situation, I did manage to get ahold of the tech side yesterday and they said that the order had been sent to processing and is no longer upgradeable etc. (I like to call and see if it's upgradeable "but not if it affects my shipping date" because if they say yes, you will know that this means the product has not left for processing and is thereby not built, etc, not to mention I did upgrade one time) Once they tell you "no" and it has gone to processing you know that it is now underway. I got this idea from the 3 ppl I mentioned before. As suspected, "expect to be at your house on the 19th to sign for the rig" Dell has been great with the customer service IMO.

Not saying for everyone so if you had a bad exp sorry. However, think about it, they need you to sign for this, they need you there to do so, this is how they make money. Believe me, if you follow up with the calls and the horrid 28 min hold times plus another 20 to get on the phone. You can trust the information. OBVIOUSLY there are freak circumstances considering the hundreds of millions of orders they process. Again, that does not mean that has anything to do with your rig.

I hope this info helps bring some relief to someone who was as worried as I was. These rigs will be great guys and gals. Enjoy them. The wait will be that much more worth it. Plus ppl complaining about next day delivery in some of these comments> You do not understand how shipping or shipping companies work apparently.....(just saying that to the random lames in the chat saying negative stuff about Dell when they did not understand the process)  Guys, you probably got that offered to you when you made your purchase of over $600 right> Don't complain. Want quality, gotta wait.

Thanks for your post, I agree with you on 'not to believe all the horrors'. Dell support has been helpful when I am able to reach them after long wait times on the phone (was not like this pre COVID).

I also ordered on the 8th of June (Estimated Delivery 7/13) and I just got a notification that my machine has shipped and will reach by 7/13. I will update here once I receive and unbox it.

My question for @XoDIAA is - how were you able to get a 1000W power supply with the AMD card? My configuration (available a few posts above) wasn't 'compatible' with anything but the 550W PSU. Even sales chat/ phone support was not able to help me get a more powerful PSU.

I agree. The option to just drop the HDD was not there. Unless I seriously did not look. I wanted to just do a 512 PCIe SSD for a few programs and windows. With how cheap SSD's are now I purchased a 4TB SATA SSD to be my secondary. I saw a 2tb SATA for $196 today on NewEgg. The HDD has another home to go to, I have an older rig that I have been playing with and it will live there.

This is only my 2nd prebuilt and the mod's available for how compatible the rig is were surprisingly low in option. I am very happy to see it arrive. I just helped turn over a 3900 AMD and saw the new 3000 series AMD's were officially released today. Not to much zoom but for the same price as the x models it's worth it. Let me know if you have any good ideas on getting the read/write speed up. Dell has been great though. I give the customer service an A.

I'm used to doing things myself and was surprised how well things went. The call times and chat features weren't great with COVID but that is to be expected. All said, HDD not totally worthless, just for what you can get a SATA 2tb for right now not sure why anyone is going to pay for the 2 TB HDD. I guess unless you don't need the boot. Honestly, if you don't really upload any videos or pictures it's not like you really need a PCIe anyway then right? Just get an SSD straight and call it good. Anyway thanks all, have fun! I know I will. TY Dell!

O my bad my dude. I had to get the little 5+ psu. I put in my own afterwards. Hope that clarify's. I imagine you have gotten your rig by now, pretty dope ya! I hope you are enjoying it man. No issues? Everything working well? This is my  1st pre-built and I am already seeing ppl wanting to add additional M.2 PCIE's to their "1st Desktop" - I'm actually surprised besides the boot time for windows and other read/write programs that M.2 isn't going to get them over a second when it comes to Gaming. I have a strong feeling someone asking how to install a SATA for their 1st time is not running benchmarks or doing video editing so ya. I was amazed to see a M.2 recommended to them or a gen 4 when a standard SATA or version 3 would do the trick for much cheaper. The M.2 is nice if it comes with, but to buy a second and get your blazing 4900 mbps with the 4th gen and save less than a second is hilarious. (Unless you are rich) in that case, go for it. Anyway man, hope you have some fun. See you on the web. Don't fall for marketing tricks lol.

Eh, they came with the rig. Detached and Sata has taken it's place. My 1st pre-made. I was very happy with the quality of the build, but amazed at some of the advice I see some of these ppl being given. Being told to buy a M.2 for gaming speeds???? BLEH! If you want higher read/write sure, but even when it comes to the Gen 4 stuff (unless big on video editing) a standard Sata or PCIE at best is going to do the work every gamer needs. I was surprised to see the HDD packed within the SATA. Nice they came with the M.2 for the windows boot and some other stuff for computer science classes, but ya. Good day to you

Hey @XoDIAA , thanks for the clarification on the PSU.

Yes, I got mine 2 days before the promised date. This is also my first pre-built. I've always owned self assembled machines, since Intel 486. This R10 is indeed an amazing machine, refreshes my mood every time I see it

It arrived fine, and I tested everything to be working OK. However, after a few games on Steam, I was surprised to see one recurring issue with my Ethernet. Every 1 or 2 games, my in game connection would reset, and I would be kicked out. I am always able to reconnect, but my ping jumps to about 10x the usual. This high ping lingers for a about half a minute, and then everything is back to normal. This random disconnection feels bad, and I almost always end up with a lost life in the game.

I switched to WiFi, and things are smooth as ever. Play everyday on WiFi now, and this issue doesn't exist. I tried switching back to Ethernet once, and boom - same problem. Seems to be a known problem as I could find a few others have also reported this issue with Killer Ethernet. I've filed a ticket on the Killer website, and also engaged Alienware Tech Support. I can update the thread once the case progresses.

Did anyone here also face this issue? What did you do to fix it?

Hey @PH6.9 ,

The R10 has been amazing, incredibly fast, and just pure joy. I hope the random issues are just an internet thing. Is your rig doing that every single time you go ethernet? Have you tried switching Ethernet cables? I actually had some odd connection issues right off the bat and switched to a new ethernet cable and have had no issues since. I actually haven't tried running any games via WIFI. I have connected it to see and the connection was fine, but as mentioned, didn't run any games (I'm always wired for that but will try via wifi today and let you know how it goes)

I purchased a bunch of games from Steam's summer sale (as it ends Aug 1st I believe.) I'll let you know if I see anything after I run these games on WIFI today. Definitely LMK what you find out as I did have issues off the bat that seem to be resolved, but ya. Hopefully, everything goes well running a few different games. I'll be around. TTYL. (I hate dealing with new rig issues lol, I was hoping totally prebuilt would solve that haha)
