@AaronW129 I checked and windows updates were not set up for automatic. Thanks
@r72019 did the ePSA and diagnostics and was green across the board.
I have made contact with a Dell advisor and are working with the situation. I am now in a "wait and see" mode monitoring the system to see if it does it again. Don't know how long that will take but will report back here when and if it happens again and if I get a resolution to the problem.
The system is less than two months old and still has the original setup and no games running like I said before. have not done any upgrades either other than a Alienware keyboard; but the problems started before the addition of the keyboard.
I have the same issue. Tried everything. Did system reset, tried different surge protector, disabled xmp, and to no avail. I’ve been in contact with dell support the entire time. Now waiting to see if they can provide me with a replacement unit or a refund. Sad to pay so much money and get a faulty system.
Is the system overheating? Have you checked if the R10 is getting hot. Do you hear the fans? Have you tried reseating the PSU connectors at the power supply and the PSU connectors going to the motherboard? Have you looked at the Event Log to see if the shutdown was flagged as unexpected?
Yes, I already tried everything except reseating the psu connectors. I’ve been in contact with dell support for a few days now. Currently waiting to see if they will be replacing the system.
the heating seems fine. I do get unexpected shutdown and cache hierarchy errors in event log.
Add me to the list of people with issues. My new Alienware Aurora Ryzen Edition R10 has turned itself off and back on 4 times tonight. It acts as if someone pulled the power cord and shoved it back in rapidly.
I don't see any connection between heat because fans were normal at the time. Self test shows fine. Event logs shows:
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.
I got this PC less than 2 weeks ago. Maybe I'll need to return it ;( . LMK if any of you get a solution.
Has this been figured out? Just unboxed and setup a fresh POS that started hard rebooting constantly, haven't had it stay on for more than 15 minutes.

This is my second junk Alienware to arrive busted, first one was returned for not having working wifi, looks like this one goes right back in the box too.

Window Update is taking over the PC.
it will restart when its necessary to do the updates.
click on Start Menu and go to settings
navigate to Updates & Security you should see
Windows Updates.
Click on Advanced Options and turn off
"Restart this device as soon as possible....."
You can also change the active hrs and pc will do the updates at midnight.

You'd expect a notification prior to restart and option to postpone if the issue were auto update.
May be video driver or gpu related. I'd start by running the built in self diagnostics f12 on startup.
Event viewer and reliability monitor should be able to give you a better idea of your pc's stability.

Did you ever find a fix for this? I am experiencing the same issue... this seems to be a very common problem.

have noticed based on other postings on this board, that some Ryzen 5000 systems seem to have issues.
I would suggest to contact DELL support and they can run some diagnostics to try and pinpoint the issue.
