Aurora R11, Resizable BAR with the 30xx Series, #2

Should the Nvidia resizable bar be working on my Aurora R11 once I update my NVIDIA driver? Or do I still need an update from Alienware? If so, how long does it usually take them to release stuff like this? I've just had my R11 for a month and a half so not sure how quickly they do this kind of thing. Thanks!

On an RTX30 card it requires the following:

- Motherboard BIOS update to enable the settings in BIOS.

- Video card vBIOS update to enable the settings in the video card.

- GPU driver update to enable the functionality in the driver.

- Game that supports resizable BAR.

If you have an RTX 3060 you do not need a vBIOS update as that one comes with a vBIOS that supports it.

It will be very interesting if Dell does this, since it will require them to upgrade the AGESA version on all their R10's to support this future. I am thinking they are not going to provide this for pre-Ryzen 5000 CPU's, as we have seem to have been limited to AGESA version 1.0.0.6 for the foreseeable future.

The VBIOS updates for some of the laptops and desktop Dell RTX 3080s and Dell RTX 3090 are now available. I assume that yesterday's motherboard BIOS update took care of that end of things?

The other thing you need is a supported CPU.  Per Nvidia zen 2 (i.e. the Ryzen 3xxx CPU's shipped in the R10 before this year) do not officially support resizeable BAR.  So as things currently stand this is a moot issue with R10s on pre-5000 series CPUs.

Well I got all the updates this evening on my R11 I-9 10900KF and 3090 and tried to go into the bios by hitting F2 at start up to enable it but I didn’t see anything in there to do this and the screen looked like it was in safe mode. Is there another way to enable this? Nvidia CP system information says it there but says NO which is disabled.

Not a moot point: https://www.techpowerup.com/279264/amd-brings-smart-access-memory-resizable-bar-support-to-ryzen-3000-series

3000 Series CPU's now support Resizable BAR support also, except for the Ryzen 3 3200G and Ryzen 5 3400G

That's nice and all, except this is a Nvidia feature.  The articles you listed are news articles from 4 weeks ago. The link I provided is direct from Nvidia, and it is dated 2 days ago.

"As of March 30th, 2021, the following CPU chipsets and CPUs officially support Resizable BAR on GeForce RTX 30 Series desktop GPUs:  AMD Zen 3 CPUsRyzen 3 5xxxRyzen 5 5xxxRyzen 7 5xxxRyzen 9 5xxx"

Per Nvidia, it isn't currently supported on Zen 2 (Ryzen 3000 chips).  Maybe that will change in the future, who knows.

It will change, just like AMD started first with 5000 CPU support and later extended it.

Nvidia is not going to cut out all the 3000 series users if AMD is not cutting them out.

In the same boat as you are. Were you able to locate the PCIe settings in the BIOS? I have already updated it to 1.0.5 and cannot see the options under the advanced settings.

It's not yet available. There was an understandable misunderstanding with our friends at Alienware due to the coincidental timing of their most recent Aurora BIOS & VBIOS updates coming out on the same day as NVIDIA enabling Resizable BAR in their latest Game Ready Drivers.

BIOS 1.05 does not enable Resizable BAR. Nor does the recent new VBIOS updates for the RTX 3080 & 3090s.

This is frustrating as I'm playing a game that takes good advantage of it (Red Dead Redemption 2). As a gaming & enthusiast brand I would expect Alienware to be all over this.

We're waiting on both a motherboard BIOS update and a GPU VBIOS update (for RTX 3070, 3080 & 3090 GPUs - the newer 3060s original VBIOS should already have Resizable BAR already enabled).

Some big improvements in the DCS world with this resizable bar both monitor and VR. Can we please have this upgrade.
